I’ve been on a bit of a quest this year to be more conscious of my shopping habits. One of the biggest things here, for me, was making more of an effort to use up what I had before I got sucked in by the latest beauty launch. It was a bad habit I picked up, and I suppose I could partly blame it on blogging, but my beauty stash was getting out of control and I just wasn’t using any of it.

As a result, I’ve not had as many “new” products to talk about on here, as much of what I’ve been using are things I’ve already spoken about or reviewed at length before. Although blogging does have a slightly detrimental effect on my shopping habits, it does come with the benefit of press samples, and as a result, I’ve been kindly sent a few new releases to try. Let’s take a look at the three brands that have stood out to me so far and have been a welcome addition to my collection for summer.

Yes To

I thought I was well and truly past my face wipe phase, with most I’d tried drying my skin out. I’d seen the Yes To wipes doing the rounds on Instagram and when they offered to send me some of their Grapefruit Brightening Facial Wipes I decided to put my previous thoughts aside and give them a go.

I’ve been well and truly reminded of how handy it can be to have a packet of wipes around! They’re perfect for a quick wipe over before a proper cleanse, or after the gym, and I’ve actually noticed a difference in my skin tone when using these - particularly when paired with a good toner like the Pixi Glow Tonic.

Huge bonus points for the beautiful scent, the sealable packaging and the fact that these wipes are made with compostable materials. They do feel a wee bit “tingly” when you use them and a fair few reviews I’ve read have suggested that they’re not great for sensitive skin, which is worth considering.

I did also use a sachet of their Cucumber Mud Mask but I didn’t see too much of a difference from it. It didn’t “dry” like I expected, so I potentially didn’t leave it on long enough or used too much. To be honest, it’s a bit difficult to really tell how well something like this works from just one sachet, so I’ll maybe pick up a tube when my current face mask of choice runs out.

St Tropez

With the sun making an unprecedented appearance for the last few weeks, I’ve actually been able to get a bit of a natural glow, however, I’ve also managed to give myself a whopper of a t-shirt tan. Handily, a few new products from St Tropez arrived at the weekend and I’ve started putting them to the test, so here are some first impressions.

I’ve only started to become a bit more confident with tanning products in recent years (or months, to be honest), so I’ve been pushing the boat out a little and trying new forms of tan. Over the past few months, I’ve become quite a fan of water formulas, as I find them easier to work with and lighter on the skin.

St Tropez has added their own tanning water to their range, in the form of their Purity Water Mousse. So far, I’ve only used this in an attempt to blend in my horrific tan lines, but it’s impressive. It has no guide colour, so there’s no tell-tale orange tinge and no transfer to your nice fresh sheets. It’s super lightweight and smells incredible, with a gorgeous natural colour that applies evenly throughout. I can’t wait to use this for an all-over tan in lieu of the holiday I haven’t booked yet.

In the past few years, I’ve noticed a change in my skin, in that I’ve become rather freckly, particularly on my face. I’m quite religious in my application of sunscreen, but the freckles persist. To even out the tan on my face I’ve started using the St Tropez Gradual Tan Tinted Moisturiser & Primer. It’s a great base for the summer and isn’t as greasy as other similar products can be. The “universal shade” would be way too dark for my typical skin tone, but with a bit of a tan, it’s a good match.

Erborian

Speaking of base products, I’ve finally tried some of Erborian’s range for myself. I remember their CC cream doing the rounds on beauty blogs a couple of years back, but I was never able to pick it up for myself. The team kindly sent me a selection of their base products, including their cult classic BB and CC creams, which I’ve been using for the past month.

Honestly, why did it take me so long to jump on this bandwagon? I’ve found myself reaching for the BB or CC cream most days and I can’t rave about them enough. Both are super lightweight on the skin, a breeze to apply and it feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. The BB cream is a slightly fuller coverage than the CC cream, so it’s good for days where I feel like I need a bit of a helping hand (read: when I’ve stayed up too late reading my book), and the CC cream has been a godsend in this hot weather.

Honorary mentions have to go to their Glow Creme, which makes for a stunning illuminating base, and the Matte Creme which is great for days when my skin is on the oilier side.

What have you got your eye on to try this summer?
