Five brilliant bloggers to add to your reading list for 2018
I’ve loved reading other blogs since before I even started my own all those years ago. There’s something about reading about things people are passionate about that makes me so happy. I have a lot of favourite blogs that I return to day after day, month after month, year after – you get the gist. Although I have my long-standing favourites, there have been a few blogs I’ve become slowly obsessed with over the past twelve months that I just had to share.
I guess you could say I have varied taste, because I like a lot of different blogs, but at the core of it all, I seem to lean towards blogs that feel like you’re chatting with your best pal over a cuppa. I’m a nosey person, so I love learning about other people’s lives and the things they care about. Be that a lipstick, or a book, or a cosy jumper from Primark, or a holiday or a person – when people are passionate it shines through and that’s what draws me to a blog.
So whilst these blogs may not be brand new discoveries for many of you, they’ve been the ones that I’ve found myself going back to each and every week to get lost in a brand new blog post. They’re the people I’ve been loving on Twitter, stalking slightly on Instagram (some in real life, too, because I’m awkward like that) and are generally just five amazing people worth adding to your reading list for 2018.
I’d been following Sophie on Twitter for months, but for some reason, I’d never quite found myself tootling over to have a read of her blog posts in that time. Things very quickly changed, however, when she wrote the most beautiful post about her wedding and I instantly fell for her writing style. Ever since, I’ve been heading to her blog every morning for my daily dose of her beautiful words, and I am never disappointed. She’s got such an infectious attitude to life, and her blog acts as that much-needed reminder to enjoy the little things that make you smile. Sophie covers everything from travel and food to fashion (she has excellent style, by the way), careers and life in general – she’s got something for everyone over on her corner of the internet.
Whenever I read one of Kirsty’s posts I become even more convinced that we are kindred spirits. Kirsty blogs about lifestyle (so everything, basically) and I love her weekly Little Things posts a hell of a lot. If you like a good book, getting cosy, cute clothes and beauty products that actually work then you’ll like Kirsty’s blog. There’s something about her aesthetic that I just love, with killer flatlays and the perfect casual-but-cool style. I’m kind of jealous of her wardrobe, to be honest. She’s so relatable and having met her offline too, I can confirm that she’s just as fun off the screen as she is online.
Lindsey is another blogger who I feel like I have so much in common with. I’d been following her online forever before we finally met in person for the first time at our gym – super glamorous. Since then, we’ve been for brunch and put the world to rights over eggs on toast, discussed our love for digital and she’s filled me in on everything I need to know about her degree, because she studied the course that I’m hoping I’ll be joining next year. I’m in awe of how much content Lindsey manages to produce, she’s absolutely killing it, and if you’re into fashion, beauty and lifestyle she’s one to watch.
I first discovered Lydia back when we were both still regulars over on YouTube, and since then I like to think that we’ve become proper “internet friends”. I honestly feel that everyone should follow Lyd, she’s an absolute ray of sunshine and one of my favourite people. She’s sassy, honest and loves a good pun – what more could you want from a blog? Not only that, she’s also incredibly talented and an all-around sweetheart. I can rely on Lyd to make me smile when I need it most. Lyd is down-to-earth and will bring some much-needed humour to your Twitter feed. Whenever I see that she’s uploaded an Instagram story I have to watch it straight away, and she has a beautiful cat called Monkey, too. Everyone needs a Lyd in their life.
