For years I always saved my nice perfumes for those ever elusive “special occasions”, until one day I just stopped. Saving things for best is all well and good, but what if that perfect moment never comes? I’d much rather treat myself to a little splash of sunshine in the form of my favourite fragrances on a daily basis. A good perfume can boost my confidence, it makes me feel put together, and I just like smelling nice! As a result, I’ve ended up tearing through my perfume collection a lot faster than usual, but instead of wallowing in despair I’m taking it as an opportunity to try out some new scents.
If my previous perfume choices are anything to go by, it’s clear that I’m drawn to sweet, sugary scents with the odd hint of florals or warm vanilla. I love a hint of citrus, but musky, spicy scents aren’t really my cup of tea. I’ve always loved Marc Jacobs perfume, with the super cute bottles being a huge bonus and the fruity, creamy scents being a welcome addition to my growing collection.
Daisy Kiss, a limited edition version of the classic Daisy line, is no different. Packaged in a new, hot pink bottle, this fragrance screams flirtatious and feminine. The iconic flower topper has been updated with varying shades of pink as opposed to the previous neutral tones of the original scent, in keeping with the overall vibe of this limited edition. Sure, the lid is a bit over the top, but it’s seriously pretty and the flexible nature of the flowers means that it’s still easy to chuck it in your bag for on the go. When I’m splashing out on a designer perfume I want it to stand out, and I can always rely on Marc Jacobs to go the extra mile with the attention to detail in the way their perfumes are packaged.
Now, on to the most important part, the scent itself. The name Daisy brings to mind a mix of floral hues, and this perfume lives up to that expectation. With a mix of peony, apricot, violet and rose there is a stunning fruity edge to this floral concoction, and the result is a burst of spring in a bottle. The addition of pomelo, a citrus fruit that I definitely did not just have to Google, brings a crispness that makes it the perfect, fresh scent for warmer weather.
If you’re a fan of the original Daisy range then this fresh, fruity update will be the perfect summer scent. More than just a signature floral, the crisp citrus notes add an extra edge to Daisy Kiss that the original Daisy doesn’t share, making it a surprisingly light fragrance that makes me dream of sunny days by the sea. This is without a doubt my summer perfume for the year, and I’m already eyeing up a backup bottle for when this one is finished.
