As soon as I’m handed a drinks menu, I always flip straight to the cocktail section. I’m one of those people who likes their alcoholic drinks to not really taste like alcohol, so I always prefer a pretty cocktail. Don’t get me wrong, I’m also partial to a glass of wine with my dinner, a raspberry gin or a sneaky wee vodka on my rare nights out, but I can’t resist the lure of a cocktail.
As well as cocktails, I also love parcels. Between online shopping & subscription boxes, I get a fair few parcels and coming home to lots of boxes to open is always a treat! My two loves have been combined in the shape of the Tipple Box, a lovingly curated selection of craft spirits and mixers all picked with the perfect cocktail in mind. I rarely make cocktails in the house, because although our cabinet is pretty well stocked with spirits, I never really have the rest of the ingredients to match! Now I just need to pick up some fancy glasses to drink them from…
Tipple Box have been running since December 2014 offering a selection of spirit and cocktail themed boxes that you can order straight to your door. They work with premium independent distilleries throughout the UK to find the best of the best and share them with their customers. Not only do their boxes have amazing contents, they also have some pretty damn beautiful packaging too. It’s totally Gatsby-esque, with an aura of art deco glam. Christmas is just around the corner (have you noticed?) and these would definitely make brilliant presents!
My box has a selection of spiced rum from Morant Bay to make some yummy rum-based cocktails. The recipe card features two recipes, one for a fruity Red Mary Pickford and the other for a classic Cuba Libre. Alongside the rum, you’ll find all the mixers you need including pineapple juice, cherry liqueur, cola and Tipple Box’s own lime sugar syrup. The recipe card gives you all the information you need to make your very own cocktails in the comfort of your own home, which is perfect for a cocktail making novice like me.
