Is there such a thing as too much lipstick? Umm… no!
As a self-confessed beauty junkie, I’ve amassed quite a collection of lipsticks in my time, but that never stops me adding even more shades to my line-up. You can imagine my delight when a mysterious package arrived at my door, filled with not one, not two, but fourteen brand new lipsticks just for me.
4U2 are based in Los Angeles and are bringing their makeup range to UK shores this coming Autumn. The team very kindly sent me their entire Lipaholic Collection to test, featuring fourteen creamy shades inspired by that enviable Californian Glow. Although no price has been confirmed for their impending UK launch, but this bargain brand is sure to cause a stir when it hits our high street.
The lipsticks themselves are impressively creamy without compromising on intensity. Just one swipe gives you an incredible wash of colour that stays put all day with minimal transfer and only needing topping up after a serious feast. The formula feels super nourishing, and unlike many other drugstore lipsticks, they aren’t drying in the slightest. The range is also cruelty-free and expands to include foil shadows, contour kits, highlighters, glitter and more.
My only gripe with these is the packaging, as the lightweight plastic feels quite cheap and doesn’t come across as particularly sturdy. They don’t offer much protection to the bullet, so I wouldn’t necessarily feel like I could throw it in my bag without it breaking or smudging everywhere! Fair enough, they are a budget brand, but I definitely think it could do with a little work to make them a bit more secure.
The range comprises of fourteen shades, ranging from muted nudes, nineties browns, rosy pinks, deep reds and vampy purples. From top to bottom, the first photo shows Selfie, Mallory, Afternoon Tea, Marigold, Silent Disco, Rock Rose, and Mimosa all after just one swipe. The second photo, again from top to bottom, shows Amelia, Red Velvet, Violaceous, ICYMI, Ballet Ribbons, Brighton Blogger and 90s Vibe. A lot of the shades are quite similar but I can see myself wearing all of them. My favourites so far are Brighton Blogger and ICYMI, but I’m also loving Mimosa which has been a bit of a change for me as I usually steer clear of oranges!
So, if you’re a fan of trying out new budget beauty brands then I’d definitely keep your eyes peeled for 4U2 Cosmetics UK launch. You can follow them over on Twitter to stay up to date with their progress, and in the meantime, I’ll be here playing with lipstick. Is fourteen in one day too much?
