For so long I had avoided the Tangle Teezer hype, thinking that this little plastic brush would really make no difference to my thick, untameable hair. I’d never got on with hairbrushes, so why would this change anything? I muddled on for many a year without feeling inclined to pick one up, until one day I did. I’m not sure why, to be honest, nothing had changed, but when I was wandering around a Sephora in Paris I found myself popping one in my basket and heading to the checkouts. It’s been one of those situations where I wish I’d just given in to the hype sooner, because what I previously saw as a little plastic brush has actually changed my hair. Not convinced? Let me tell you three reasons why I love the Tangle Teezer.
To start with, the whole shape of the Tangle Teezer is just a lot more practical for me. I can easily pop this little thing into my bag for on the go, and it takes up barely any room. It’s specifically designed to fit in your hand like a dream, which it does to a tee. The ergonomic design makes the whole experience a breeze, whereas before I would be quite literally suffering at the hands of muscle cramps after fighting with a brush to detangle my mane. It seemed like such a tiny feature, but it’s definitely one of my favourite things about it!
The ease of use of the Tangle Teezer has been a huge factor in the amount I use it, as it’s become an essential part of my daily routine. Brushing my hair used to be a painful experience for me, and therefore was something I tended to put off, but now that I’ve found an easier way to remove my tangles my hair is in much better condition. The design of the Tangle Teezer helps prevent breakage in your hair, especially when it’s wet, and overall it’s left my hair feeling healthier and smoother. I’m kicking myself for not picking one up sooner, seriously.
Something I hadn’t realised was that you can now get different versions of the Tangle Teezer. In Sephora, they only had the original, so that was my first glimpse into the world of Tangle Teezers, but I’ve since discovered that they have so. many. more. I now have the Thick & Curly, targeted at my hair type, and the Aqua Splash which is perfect for the shower but they also have styles designed specifically for blow drying your hair, a compact version, a children’s version which is actually a really cool Magic Flowerpot and my inner child wants me to buy, as well as some more traditional hairbrush styles if you prefer your styling tools to have handles. Yeah, it’s a good lineup.
