I don’t hide the fact that I love birthdays, particularly mine, and really really really like to celebrate them. If you follow me just about anywhere you’ve more than likely heard me going on about my own upcoming celebrations for my 21st next week (29th of July people, like it’s not already in your diaries…) and honestly I’m planning on going all out this year.
Okay, twenty one isn’t a massively important age in the UK anymore, not much changes apart from my ability to apply to adopt a child or supervise a learner driver, but the age is just an excuse for me. Since turning 20 last summer I’ve had a bit of a trying year – to say the least – but things have a funny way of working out for the better even when you least expect it and that’s exactly what I want to celebrate. I’m a big fan of treating myself, which you might have already guessed, but right now I feel like I deserve it having managed to get through a really tough time in my life – I have a good job, I’m going back to college, my health is doing alright for a change (touch wood) and I have amazing people in my life. Why wouldn’t I want to make the most of that? Any excuse for a new party frock and a night of dancing!
There are a few things I’ve had my eye on for a long time now but as a very remorseful shopper I’ve felt a tad too guilty to actually spend my money on, but birthdays managed to eradicate a lot of the buyer’s guilt I usually feel and I think it’s time to treat myself.
The big ticket item on my current wishlist is definitely a new laptop and I think I’m finally going to indulge and buy myself a Macbook. I haven’t quite decided what model I’m going to go for, but at the moment I’m feeling the Air suits me best. I love having a desktop, and it works perfectly for me, but I miss being able to spend lazy mornings working in bed or being able to work on long journeys and just make the most of my time. Being a totally boring person means that I’m also planning on stocking up on a few blogger essentials, like memory cards and a new tripod, because it just makes my life that little bit easier. Nothing says “I’m a blogger” like spending your Friday night browsing Amazon to find the best deals on memory cards and readers…
I always use my birthday as an excuse to treat myself to some new makeup, and this year I have a loooooooong list. The most practical on the list is definitely a new foundation, which will most likely come in a Nars bottle, but I also can’t resist a bit of pretty so it’s probably no surprise that the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette is on there too. Like I need another palette, right?
I suppose the same could be applied to my book collection – my shelves are fit to burst as it is – but you can’t beat a good book. I always have a to-read list the length of my arm, but I also want to invest in a few cook books too. Since following Chrissy Teigen on Snapchat I’ve become obsessed with her cooking and really want to check out her book, Cravings, so it’s definitely on the list.
It’s no secret that I love Kate Spade, and the bag I bought in New York was supposedly an early birthday present to me, from me. I’m eager to add to my growing collection of Kate Spade and finally buy one of her planners that I’ve been lusting after for roughly 3 years now! I also need a new watch and think that one of her’s would be the perfect partner to my wrist.
Let’s not tell my bank card about all of these shopping plans, okay?

Do you like to go all out for your birthday, or is it not really your thing?
