Vamp Eyeshadow Palette by HD Brows – £29.00
At the start of this year I told myself I’d try new things, and to an extent I’ve done pretty well, but when it comes to eyeshadow I was failing miserably. Hiding behind a fail-safe nude or bronze-y/gold eye with the occasional silver, anything that could be considered somewhat colourful had me running a mile.
Whilst not the brightest palette on the market, the Vamp Eyeshadow Palette by HD Brows is certainly a step in a more colourful direction for me. I was first introduced to this palette when I had the full HD Brows treatment at Yuu Beauty Glasgow and since then I’ve actually been enjoying the autumnal wash of colour it provides.
I’d say this palette comes in at the higher end of the price scale, which I initially thought was worth it. Vamp contains five shades in a range of cranberry and smoky purple tones, with four satin finishes and one matte. The shadows feel buttery soft and blend together really well, however I think their pigmentation lets them down a little. This is easily overcome with the use of a good primer and they certainly pack a lot more of a punch when applied wet, so all is not lost, but I do wish they’d been brilliant from the get go.
For a palette with just five shades I think you can get a decent variety of looks from it, but for me it is more suited to an evening. This is probably because anything other than nude in the day is a scary thought for me! I’d like to get better at applying bolder eyeshadow so I can feel confident enough to rock a cranberry eye during the day, and I think this palette is a handy way to dip my toes in to the water.
You can buy the Vamp Eyeshadow Palette and more on the HD Brows website.
How do you feel about coloured shadow – is it just me who finds it ridiculously intimidating?
