There’s that saying that goes something along the lines of “eyebrows are sisters, not twins”, but for so long now I swear my brows haven’t even looked related. It sounds silly, and I know it’s really trivial, but I’ve been overly conscious of my brows for too long now. In high school I had seriously atrocious brows, they were wild and untamed and still fill me with dread when I see photos. That was until I discovered threading, and then they were all but pencil thin which really did not suit my face!
Since my first visit to Yuu Beauty for a microdermabrasion treatment last year I’ve been toying with the idea of undergoing the full HD Brows treatment in an attempt to solve my brow based dilemma, but I was trying to let them grow in a bit first. Towards the end of last month I figured enough was enough and got myself booked in with the lovely Leanne for a spot of brow-bashing and to try out the HD Brows makeup range.
Trying out a new beauty treatment can be pretty daunting, but having experienced Leanne’s work in the past I knew I was in safe hands. A few days before I had my brows done I had a patch test in the form of a temporary tattoo, which was ridiculously easy but so important. When putting chemicals on your face you need to know how your skin will react, and if your beautician doesn’t insist on patch testing then head elsewhere. You’ll be thankful for it!
HD Brows consists of a multi-pronged attack on unruly brows, with tinting, waxing and threading as standard. The aim is to add definition to your natural brow, leaving you with the perfect shape for your face without going for a full on “Scouse Brow”.
I was surprised by how quick and easy the whole process of having HD Brows done is. Originally, I thought it was going to be some complex system that required me to try and not fall asleep for a very long period of time, but the whole thing was super speedy and I didn’t find it painful at all. I do seem to have a high tolerance when it comes to having my brows done – I find threading a breeze – so this might be different for you.
Now, I actually like my eyebrows. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to say that, if I ever have, but with a shape that suits my face it’s changed my entire look. Plus, they’re so much easier to tame in the morning now! I’m still trying to grow them in a bit in the middle, but I’ll definitely be sacking off my usual £2.50 threading appointments in Superdrug and replace them with continued trips to Yuu Beauty.
After having my brows done, Leanne introduced me to the range of HD Brows makeup, which I didn’t know much about. Leanne expertly applied a full face of makeup using what seemed like the entire range on offer, leaving me with a look that was a little different to my typical choices but that I loved. The highlight of the range for me was definitely the fluid foundation which boasts a full, flawless finish without feeling heavy or caking. Combined with the illuminator it gave me such a natural finish that I absolutely loved! I’m thinking about buying both of these when my current foundation runs out, I’m seriously impressed.
As well as the foundation, I fell head over heels for the three eyeshadow palettes on offer; Bombshell, Foxy and Vamp. Each palette had a gorgeous collection of shades, with excellent pigmentation and a buttery soft formula that makes them a dream to blend. I’ve got a full review of Vamp coming up next week, so keep your eyes peeled for that as it’s definitely one of my must have palettes for Autumn!
Despite not having heard much about the range before, I’m kind of blown away by the quality of the makeup on offer from HD Brows. I’ve got my eye on a few more pieces that I might pick up next time I’m in!
Are brows the bane of your life? If so then I’d definitely recommend booking yourself in for a HD Brows treatment – it makes such a massive difference!
