Salon Professional Volume Curls styler by Tresemme – RRP £20.00, available from Amazon
Disaster struck a couple of weeks ago when my beloved Enrapture Totem Styler officially bit the dust. It had actually broken before back in November-ish time so I was a bit peeved off that it had broken again and decided it was time to move on. In an ideal world I’d have the GHD Curve however it’s a tiny bit out of my budget at the moment so instead I picked up this styler by Tresemme after work.
First things first, the barrel is pretty huge. It’s 32mm, which is definitely on the larger side of what’s readily available. I personally like a bigger barrel however I do sometimes feel like it’s a little bit too big for my hair. It’s fine for the longer pieces in the bottom layers of my hair but I need something a little bit narrower for my shorter layers (I also need a hair cut, but that’s a whole other story).
The styler is really lightweight – to the point that I’ve hit myself in the head with it a couple of times – and has a long 2.5m swivel cord. I love having a swivel cord because I switch between using it as a wand and as a tong so it means I can do that without it being too much of a faff. There’s 3 heat settings, with the top temperature being 200 degrees celsius. It heats up relatively fast which is fantastic for me because I’m usually in a rush in the morning and don’t have time to waste waiting for it to heat up.
I find that this styler gives gorgeous, defined curls with lots of bounce. The large barrel is perfect for creating a softer style with really long lasting results. I’m still getting used to it at the moment but I’m seriously impressed, it was such a bargain! It was a great choice to last me until I can afford my dream GHD Curve.
Do you prefer a large barrel for curling tongs, or do you like the narrow ones?
