I’ll admit that this probably wasn’t the most sensible purchase to make with my exams looming, but it’s safe to say that the Now TV box has changed my life. By that I mean I can finally watch Fortitude and Mad Men. Life changing stuff, guys!
Now TV is essentially a subscription service – kind of like Netflix – with no long term commitment necessary. The little box costs £20 and includes 3 months free of the entertainment or movie packages, or 2 days of sport. It can be hooked up to any TV and all it needs is a WiFi connection for you to able to stream live TV, catch up on recently missed or watch entire box sets of the best shows around!
The packages start from £6.99 a month and you can have as many or as little as you choose at one time. At the moment we just have the entertainment package which gives us access to hundreds of shows to watch on demand as well as live streaming from the likes of Sky Atlantic, Comedy Central and MTV. As well as this, you can add a multitude of apps for varying needs such as BBC iPlayer, 4OD and ITV Player for catch up, YouTube, Facebook, Spotify and more. It essentially turns any TV in to a smart TV, great if you don’t want to splash out on the newfangled tech!
As a Virgin Media customer me and my mum were forever gutted about missing out on Sky Atlantic’s amazing selection of shows however now we can jump on the bandwagon and watch them all at our leisure – ideal. Recently we have been obsessed with Fortitude and I definitely recommend watching it if you haven’t already!
The box itself is pretty nifty, being very small and easy to hide away. It comes with a handy little remote too, making it easy to find everything at the push of a button. Both the box and the remote are mostly white plastic which does feel a little bit cheap (as would be expected with such a low priced box) however it seems robust enough and is very lightweight.
Overall I’m kind of amazed by how much of a bargain this little box has been. There’s such a great variety available and I’m never left struggling to find something to watch – more that I have too much choice! I think it’s a great purchase for any TV lover like myself, well worth picking up if you get the chance. We picked up ours from Asda however you can also order them online or purchase them from most supermarkets/electronics retailers.
Do you use Now TV? Do you think it’s worthwhile?
