Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer – RRP £5.99, available from Amazon

A few weeks ago I stupidly left my concealer in Aberdeen, which normally wouldn’t be an issue for me, but I had a weekend full of occasions that required make up and a very angry breakout on my chin. Disaster. Whilst helping my dad out with the weekly shop I pottered off to the beauty aisle and perused the selection, hoping to find either Maybelline’s “Fit Me” or “The Eraser” in a shade light enough for me; however it was not to be.

Instead I picked up Super Stay 24 Hour concealer in the lightest shade possible, Light Beige, which has turned out to be slightly too dark for me. Not awfully so, I’d just prefer it to be a bit lighter. After doing a bit of research it would appear that Maybelline do actually produce this concealer in lighter shades however they don’t seem to stock it in any of the UK suppliers. Handy for us pale girls! Luckily it blends out okay so isn’t too noticeable, more of a personal preference.

The concealer itself provides quite a full coverage, feeling a bit more like a foundation than a concealer. I find it quite dense on my skin and it seems to cling to my dry patches around my nose. This isn’t ideal as I have a bit of scarring around my nose that I like to conceal as much as possible! As I previously mentioned it blends relatively easily however I feel it has a somewhat chalky appearance if not completely blended properly which only becomes apparent a while after application – cue awkward “has my face looked like this ALL day?!” moment after an 8 hour shift at work. Personally I’ve found it to stay pretty true to the original colour with little noticeable oxidisation which is a big plus. I doubt I’ll ever need to test the claims of 24 hour coverage however it certainly lasts all day with minimal need for touch ups.

I typically prefer a concealer that’s a little bit lighter on the skin, so this isn’t really one for me, but if you’re looking for a full coverage concealer then this is maybe one to try if you can get your hands on it. After digging around a bit it appears that this concealer is being discontinued, as it’s no longer available on the Tesco or Boots websites. It may still be available in store, but if I’m being honest there’s a lot better out there in the same price range.
