You would think that as a fashion student (for a couple more weeks at least) I’d have some sort of design inclination, but you couldn’t be more wrong. I can’t sew/design/alter/draw for the life of me. When Boohoo got in touch to ask if I’d like to take part in their Style For Stroke Famous Last Words collaboration I decided to give it a go, cue a morning of swearing at fabric pens in my pyjamas.
Style For Stroke aims to increase awareness of strokes within younger generations, as they are often dismissed as something that can only happen when you’re older. I think this is so important as it’s essential to know what to do if you, or someone you are with, suffers a stroke. The best way to remember how to react is the Act F.A.S.T. acronym: has the face fallen on one side?, can they raise both arms?, is their speech slurred? If so, it’s time to call 999. You can find out a bit more about Style For Stroke here and more about what to do in the event of a stroke here. Very important!
For the collaboration I was tasked with creating my own slogan t-shirt with the theme of “Famous Last Words”, using either a sassy one liner or a motivational slogan as my inspiration. A quote that really stands out to me is actually a line from Michael Jackson’s song Heal The World – “Stop existing and start living“. It’s always been a favourite of mine so I knew it would be perfect for my t-shirt! After a few rough sketches I started to transfer it to my t-shirt using the fabric pens (we are not friends.) and I’m actually really happy with the end result. What do you think?
What slogan would you like on a t-shirt?
