MSM Big Night In - Pre-holiday Pampering

Face masks - 99p each from Boots

Models Own polishes £5 each; L-R: Sunset Chillout, Hedonist, Toxic Apple, Aqua Splash

Barry M Gelly nail polish £3.99; L-R: Mango, Key Lime, Guava

Who doesn't love a wee night in? It's so nice to just relax in your house with some nibbles and not have to worry about getting dressed up to go out in the cold (and usually rain!). As a part of MoneySupermarket's Big Night In campaign I was sent some money to have a fab night in and seeing as I go away on Monday I thought it was the perfect opportunity for a pre holiday get together with the girls. A night in for us always involves a lot of food and movies, which a fair portion of my £50 budget was spent on, however I decided to put the rest of it towards some pretty summer nail polishes for us all to use for our holiday nails and some yummy face masks for a proper pamper. Perfect night in for me!

My Travel Bucket List

Recently I've had a major travel bug. Partly down to the fact my parents have just got back from a break in Bruges and my brother has just returned from Barcelona, but mostly down to Pinterest. There are a lot of places I want to visit in my life and I am determined to do a bit of travelling while I can but my 'to visit' list is pretty much endless. I thought I would share with you some of the top ten (in no particular order) countries I want to visit, I was going to do specific cities or areas but I thought that would take forever! I couldn't find the original source for a lot of these images, but they can all be traced through my 'Wanderlust' board on Pinterest.

1. Thailand
2. America
3. Italy
4. Maldives
5. Romania
6. Australia

7. St Lucia
8. Iceland
9. France
10. Fiji
What countries are on your bucket list?

Hey guys :) Thanks for sticking around while I had a little break. I don't want to go in to it too much but basically I was left quite disappointed by my school and how they handled something which turned me in to a ball of blubbering doubt for a few days. I'm feeling a hell of a lot better now, but it's never nice to think you've made the wrong decision when it comes to something really big and life changing. However I realised that I shouldn't let it ruin all of the good memories I had of school, I really did have a lovely night at my leavers dinner and it was a great way to end my time there.
Anyway, moving on! I didn't actually manage to take any decent photos of my make up, I kind of got caught up in the night, but I did film a little video for Paperbacks & Beauty Facts which you can watch above which gives a rough idea of what it was like. I basically wanted big flicks of eyeliner, a bit of shimmer on the lid and a red lip. A few of the products used were recent purchases so I thought I would just give a little summary of how I feel about them after a few uses! If you want to see what I wore, I posted an outfit last week.
Bourjois Cream Blush - 03 Rose Tender
These blushes have been everywhere at the moment, and after trying them I'm not surprised. It has a great colour pay off while still being easily blendable and buildable if you want a more defined look. I hadn't originally intended on getting this shade but after seeing it in the shops I decided I had to have it.
Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner
This was a new purchase, but it was a repurchase of an old favourite. I used to use this liner and absolutely loved it, however I started to try new ones and just never got around to repurchasing. I usually use the Maybelline gel liner however my eyeliner brush broke and I haven't got around to replacing it yet so I decided to get this again. It's seriously great value for money, easy to use and lasts for hours. I find some eyeliners are a bit more grey than black but this is definitely black!
17 Wild Metallics - Wild Nude
When I was shopping I had intended on picking up a couple of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos however the shades that I wanted were all out of stock, I had a shade similar to this in my basket when I spotted the 17 version. It's basically just a cream shadow, but I'm really impressed. It's really easy to apply and stays all night, the colour is really pretty too. It can be built up and paired with more a more shimmery shade or a darker shade for a night out or it can be toned down to wear on a daily basis. I'll definitely be picking up a few more of these!

OOTD - High School Never Ends

Dress - Miss Selfridge
Shoes - New Look
Friday night saw my Leaver's Dinner/Prom finally take place, which if you follow me on Twitter you will already know I was very excited about. Who doesn't love dressing up? I've been preparing for this for months, so it's a bit weird that it's over.
So this is the main event for me - my dress - it's from Miss Selfridge and I love it. I wasn't drawn to it when it was on the hanger but I picked it up to make it up to four items and as soon as I tried it on I fell in love. Cue drama regarding ordering it in the right size (in the end I actually bought this dress three times...) and then finding the right accessories but it was perfect in the end. I just need another excuse to wear it!
I'm going to do a separate post on my hair, nails and make up as I bought a lot specially for the night and thought I'd share everything I used so that shall be up at some point. I had an amazing night, but it ended on quite a sour note which has left me feeling quite rubbish. I don't want to go in to it too much but I've decided to step back from my blog for a bit and just relax, I'll still be reading blogs and lurking on Twitter but it'll be a tad quiet here.

Jewellery by coloursandcarousels

If you follow me on Twitter then you may have noticed me tweeting about considering opening a little jewellery shop, I finally took the plunge! I already make and sell jewellery on Facebook with my mum but I decided to give my own shop a go just to sell some smaller pieces like friendship bracelets. For now there are only three styles available but depending on how it goes I will hopefully be adding lots more over the coming weeks!

The Music Tag

Image from clubkillers.com
Hello! I was tagged by the lovely Char of Hello There Sprinkles to do this post so I thought I would do it and share a bit of my sometimes odd music taste with you all!

What is your favourite type of music?
I like pretty much anything, apart from most screamo and noisy dubstep really. I love a bit of cheesy 80s pop but I also tend to like the majority of what's in the chart. I have a pretty varied music taste!

What is your least favourite type of music?
As mentioned above, I'm not in to screamo or dupstep/house type music. It's just noise to me! There's occasionally the random song that creeps on to my iPod but I can't bring myself to listen to the majority of that genre.

What's the best gig you've been to?
This is a toughy. I've seen some amazing people live. So far this year I've loved Lana Del Rey and the Michael Jackson Immortal Cirque Du Soleil (which isn't really a gig but still amazing) but some of my all time favourite gigs include Katy Perry's California Dream Tour, all of McFly's tours and Twin Atlantic at the Barrowlands in Glasgow. Glasgow is really great for gigs, you can't beat the atmosphere.

What albums are you listening to at the moment?
Mostly the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby, it's amazing. Aside from that I've been listening to lots of Lana Del Rey, Bastille and some general 80s tunes - Absolute 80s is definitely my favourite radio station!

What/who is your favourite band/artists and favourite album?
Favourite artists are definitely Michael Jackson, Katy Perry and Lana Del Rey. Bands wise I love McFly, Twin Atlantic, We The Kings and Foo Fighters. My favourite album at the moment is Born To Die by Lana Del Rey or Teenage Dream by Katy Perry, two of the few albums I can listen to and love every single song on (The Rock of Ages soundtrack is a very guilty pleasure). My all time favourite song ever is hands down The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson, I just absolutely love it and it always gets me in a great mood.

If you could instantly know how to play any instrument, what would it be?
Guitar or piano, I'm always in awe of people who can play musical instruments. I used to play piano but I wasn't very good at it. I wish I was one of those people who could just sit and play any tune I fancied!

I tag: Chloe, Islay & Sam

Worldwide Wardrobe Competition

Yet another fantastic competition from Travel Supermarket - I love these! I was nominated by Mia to take part in this one. This time we have to put together five outfits under £200 for five different activities in some exotic locations across the globe. I've had a major travel bug at the moment (all will become clear in a later post) and this is not helping!

The five scenarios are:
Full Moon Party in Thailand
Cocktails in New York
Sightseeing in Paris
Clubbing in Ibiza
Shopping in London

The winner of each scenario receives the money to buy their outfit and wins a trip to the destination - I'm not going to turn that chance down! I decided not to do Ibiza as right now it's not really my kind of holiday, I'm sure I'll go at some point I just think it's a bit of a more grown up clubbing holiday. Here goes...

Top - Skirt - Necklace - Sunglasses - Nail Polish - Headband - Shoes
After investigating the Full Moon party a bit further I noticed that it seemed to be very neon, so I went for a neon meets pastels meets street princess kind of look (good description there, Charlotte). The bralet from Topshop was the perfect combination of darker purples with hints of neon green which I decided to bring out with the metallic green skater skirt - perfect for partying. I decided I wanted a statement necklace that was quite plain so went for this chunky silver chain to match the silvery sandals and white sunglasses. Top it off with a pastel flower crown (in keeping with the colour palette obviously) and some very bright polish to tie it all in and you're set to party!

Shorts - Cami - Blazer - Sunglasses - Shoes
To me, New York is the home of sophisticated simplicity. I decided I wanted some sharp tailoring and was originally intending on getting a matching short suit until I found this gorgeous boxy blazer from River Island which went with my chosen shorts perfectly. Paired with a plain white cami to keep it simple, but still looking pulled together, white cat eye sunglasses and these beautiful heels from Zara I think it's an outfit worthy of the New York streets.

Playsuit - Top - Bag - Shoes
For Paris I wanted to keep it quite simple, mostly out of comfort. I like to be comfortable when I'm out, especially if I'm spending the day on foot hence the Toms - they really are some of the comfiest shoes I've worn. The paisley playsuit and textured crop top keeps it chic and the double pocket satchel would be super handy for keeping my camera and other travel essentials in.

Jeans - Kimono - Top - Bag - Shoes
The most expensive of my four outfits, and possibly my favourite. When I'm shopping I like to have something comfortable on my feet and these gorgeous mint Vans were an easy choice. I'm currently after a turquoise pair but these are starting to steal my eye a bit more than I had intended... A plain top and jeans are my usual choice for shopping as it comes in very handy when trying things on, jeans go with most tops and a plain white top will go with most bottoms. The embroidered detail on the top makes it a little bit more fancy than a standard top. Layers are also important for me, it can be very warm in shops but not so warm on the street, so this kimono was a perfect choice. It adds a burst of colour to the outfit while also being the perfect cover up. And of course, what shopping trip is complete without the Zara shopper?
