At the moment Moneysupermarket.com are running another of their fantastic Passion For Fashion competitions – this time with more of a summer theme in mind. You may remember a similar competition that I entered last September where I put together five outfits for the themes Party, Casual, First Date, Outdoors and Office. This time around you only need to put together three outfits for the categories of Holiday, Casual and Party to be entered for a chance to win either £1000 or three runners up prizes of £200 each. You can find out more about the competition and how to enter here.

Summer very rarely makes an appearance in Scotland but we do sometimes have a wonderful week or two of beautiful warm weather, so to make sure this outfit would be wearable all summer I decided on these stunning patterned trousers to add a bit more interest than jeans – they’re a bit daring and not something I would usually go for but I’ve got a bit of an itch to try them out! With such a statement piece I decided to keep the rest of the outfit quite simple and chose this pretty crochet top from Miss Selfridge which could be layered over vest tops or even a bikini on a little day trip to the beach at Troon! My leopard print loafers are my go to shoe when warm weather appears but sadly they are falling to pieces and I quite fancy these lovely brown ones as a replacement. To finish it all off I’d add a simple brown satchel to hold my essentials and some classic black frames to hide from the sun’s rays as well as a bright pop of orange on my nails to keep in with the bold patterned trousers.

My big summer holiday this year is Kavos with my friends, which I’m incredibly excited for. I was in Corfu last year and it was absolutely roasting so I chose this pretty printed summer dress that will be nice and light for day time thrown over a bikini but great for nights out too. As it’s kind of a ‘party’ holiday I opted for these gorgeous flatforms that I spotted in River Island, they’ll be comfy enough to wear for a long night but still give me that little bit of extra height that I look for. The little cross body bag from New Look would be perfect to keep my compact camera and some money in whilst keeping it reasonably safe so is an essential for my holiday shop! Last year I was lucky enough to get an amazing pair of acid green Wayfarers which I can’t wait to wear again, but if I was going to splash out on another pair (which is doubtful) I would go for the classic brown tortoiseshell ones, my dad has a pair from when he was younger and I’m always nabbing them to complete an outfit!

Apart from my 18th, the biggest party this summer is my Leaver’s Dinner (i.e. prom) so I’m on the look out for a pretty outfit to wear for the night. When I first saw this dress in Miss Selfridge I wasn’t too blown away by it, but I tried it on and fell in love. It’s definitely on the top of my To Buy list! The dress itself is quite simple apart from the lace detailing on the back so I’d pair it with simple black heels, an oversized monochrome clutch and a bit of sparkle. I didn’t want to wear a necklace as I feel it would detract from the detailing on the back of the dress so opted for some very sparkly (and expensive) earrings from Topshop. Normally at this price I wouldn’t even bother looking at them but these are just so beautiful – I think they’d be perfect. With such statement earrings I’d keep the rest of my jewellery simple and instead go for some glitter on my nails with Juicy Jules being the perfect partner for the gorgeous earrings.
