I feel like I should call this post "yes, I did buy half of my winter fashion wishlist". Hey, ASOS had 20% off and I'm not one to resist a bargain, plus that new buy now, pay later is waaaaay too tempting, so here we are. Really though, I was never going to be able to ignore this top for much longer, those sleeves are too good to resist. I have a bit of a thing for sleeves at the moment... sleeves and polka dots. I paid off my credit card a couple of weeks ago, so logically I felt like I deserved a couple of treats to celebrate.

I've been trying to move away from my standard black skinnies recently and bring some new denim styles into my wardrobe, starting with these jeans from LOTD. There was something about them that caught my eye, and I've ended up loving them. They have a really cool stepped hem, but as I am a tad short I need to take the length up a bit before I showcase them in their full glory! I'm not quite feeling brave enough to move away from ankle grazing lengths yet, but we'll see how that goes. Seeing as I've ended up liking these jeans so much, I think I'm going to buy a second blue pair in more of a mom style, and fulfil my inner 80s fashion dreams.

It's been a little while since I shared one of my standard rambling life updates, which are probably my favourite posts to write, so let's catch up. The past few months have been slightly hectic and I'm only just catching my breath now, but it won't be long before the festive season sets in and Christmas chaos begins. In the midst of everything that's been happening, I somehow managed to miss my thousandth blog post, and this is actually post number 1,003. How amazing is that? God knows how many hours I've spent typing away here on this screen, it's an addiction that I'm yet to break.

So what has been happening? A whole lot, but also not much. It's that time of year where I end up being horrendously busy but I don't feel like I'm doing all that much! I handed in my final submission of first semester (and hopefully of 2017) yesterday which was a huge relief. I had three huge pieces of coursework all due in the same week, so it was a tad stressful. It's Friday today, although I know this isn't going live until Tuesday, and I'm currently sitting in Paddy's house in Leicester waiting for him to get home from work so he can cook my tea for me. Sometimes I wonder if scheduling posts like these makes them less spontaneous and relevant, but I'm still rambling about whatever pops into my head at the moment, I'm just going to publish it on Tuesday instead of today... oh well.

College has been difficult this year, with a seriously intense workload that has led me to many a breakdown. I'm still waiting on my UCAS application to be approved and sent off, which is driving my perpetually anxious mind to despair, but I finally visited my first choice university a couple of weeks ago and I know it's the one for me. After going through the motions of moving away for university, being miserable for two years and dropping out, I'm determined to make the right decision this time, so paying the campus a visit was a must to set my mind at ease. Now I just need to wait and see if I actually get in!

I haven't shared much of an update health-wise for a while, mostly because nothing has really changed since last time. I'm still pretty ill, disappointingly, but I've been making some progress with my gastroenterologist and I'm waiting for some more tests at the end of the month. Finding a doctor who seemed to emphasise with how I'm feeling and actually refer me for more investigations instead of putting everything down to being anxious has been a huge relief.

Speaking of anxiety - things are going a-okay on that front for now. It was a bit shaky for a while - which I'm putting down to college work, hormones and frustration that my shoulder injury is taking longer to heal than expected - but I'm feeling clearer now. Having CBT earlier in the year has made such a huge difference to how I handle things, and now that I'm finding my self-confidence again I'm feeling a lot more like myself. This year has thrown oh-so-many challenges in my way, but I think (hope) it's done for now. I feel more in control of my life and my future, now that things are starting to settle into place again. We'll see how that goes, but it's nice to feel a bit more like Charlotte again.

It's coming up to that time of year where we start to yearn for the next one, for the fresh start and the motivation that comes alongside the changing of the calendars. I'm so excited to see what 2018 holds for me, but I want to enjoy these last couple of months of 2017 too. It's going to absolutely fly by, but that just means it'll be Christmas before you know it! I don't want to set too many goals for 2018, because I've learned my lesson with how detrimental that can be for me this year, but I do want to focus on myself a lot more, which I deserve.

I'd also like to buy a car, save a chunk for a deposit and maybe finally buy that iMac I dream of, but I think I'll need a winning lottery ticket for that to happen...

Let's just take it as it comes, eh?
