Holidays, for me, mean pamper time. Lazy days spent by the pool, less time being consumed by emails and social media, more time to spend looking after myself? Yes, please. Although I usually wear less makeup when I'm on holiday, I find myself taking a lot more care when it comes to my body instead. Plus, my beauty requirements in 35-degree heat are completely different to what my skin craves throughout the rainy Scottish "summer". Any excuse for a little beauty shopping spree, I say.

The weeks leading up to my holidays are most often spent testing a myriad of beauty products in an attempt to find the perfect lineup to pack into my case, with a mix of old favourites and new discoveries being put through some vigorous testing. Can't cope with 12 degrees in Scotland? Yeah, you're not going to work out for balmy evenings on the Dalmatian Coast. This year, I think I've managed to get the perfect lineup, and I'm excited to be spending two weeks pampering and preening by the pool. I'm going to return a bronzed goddess, with perfect skin and silky tresses to boot. Possibly a stone or two heavier too, what with all the ice cream I plan on eating.

In the spirit of properly treating myself, I've decked out my holiday skincare with a whole host of products from Charlotte Tilbury and I feel hella fancy as a result. Whipping out a cute lil' pot of Magic Cream is the epitome of pampering for me and this little mini size is perfect for travelling. With SPF15, this super hydrating moisturiser is going to be perfect for keeping my skin soft and safe during the day. This guy is going in my carry on bag because it's exactly what I need to stop my skin freaking out with the stale aeroplane air. The best way to kickstart my holiday!

When I'm there, I'm going to be reaching for the new Healthy Glow tinted moisturiser which gives the best hint of bronze without looking totally orange. This moisturiser contains natural tan pigments that blend into skin beautifully to create a sunkissed glow straight from the bottle. I've been using this as a primer at home and will continue to do this in the evenings on holiday, but I know it's also going to be the ideal "one and done" product for the days I'll be spending makeup free with it's natural, dewy finish. At the end of the day, I'll be cleansing all traces of suncream (and probably ice cream) from my face with the soothing Multi-Miracle Glow balm. This balm crams three functions into one product, acting as a cleanser, mask and a hydrating rescue balm for tired skin. Versatile products like this are a must for saving space on holiday, and the soothing balm will be ideal for calming my skin after long days in the sun.

I discovered Zhuzh Tan Accelerator on my first trip to Croatia in October, and I was instantly blown away with just how well it worked. I included it in a review at the time, where I raved about the difference it had made to my tanning even when our sunshine was limited. This year, the weather forecast is considerably better, and I can't wait to use the Tan Accelerator again. Acting like a primer for your suncream, applying this before your protective SPF helps to stimulate melanin production and speed up the tanning process. With hydrating shea butter, Zhuzh Tan Accelerator keeps the skin super soft without any stickiness.

This year, I've got a few more products from the range to try out, and I'm particularly excited about The Best of Both Tans, which is both a tan accelerator and a gradual tanner. I've been using this in the run up to my holiday to kickstart my bronzed glow, and reduce the glare from my milk bottle legs on that all important first day at the pool. I much prefer gradual tans to instant tans as they give me more control to sort out any tanning mishaps before I end up a streaky mess!

If you watched my June Favourites video you may have noticed that I'm going through a bit of a phase with Rimmel at the moment. They've been my go-to drugstore brand when it comes to so many products for years now, and when I wanted a few cheaper additions to my holiday beauty collection they were the first brand I turned to. I was beyond impressed with the results from their Super Gel Nails top coat, so when sorting out my talons for going away it was the first range I looked at. There are a lot of "gel finish" nail polishes on the market at the moment, but the Rimmel range has by far the best lasting power out of any that I've tried. In my experience, it's the only product I've found that actually rivals salon gels, making it perfect for by the pool. I'm taking the hot pink Sun Fun Daze and sea blue Dive Right In with me this year as I think they'll look killer with a tan.

Also from Rimmel, I'll be sticking the 9-in-1 BB cream in my bag for the days that I fancy a bit more coverage on my face, without using a heavy foundation. I've picked this up in the shade Extra Light, which might be a tiny bit too light when I have a bit more colour in my face, but is perfect for my standard skin tone at home - which is difficult to find in a drugstore base product.

On the days that I am going to be reaching for my makeup bag, be that for bangin' selfies at the top of the Dubrovnik Cable Car or just dressing up a bit for a nice meal, I'm going to need something to keep it all in place. Until recently, setting sprays were a "take it or leave it" kind of product for me, right up until I met the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. Now, I can go about my day safe in the knowledge that my makeup is as pristine as it was the moment I applied it. I feel like this is really going to come into its own when dealing with temperatures that are double that of a typical Scottish summer, and as impressive as it is for 8-hour shifts on my feet, I can't wait to see if it lives up to the challenge.

Another product that has totally blown me away is the L'Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Aloe Water Liquid Care Moisturiser. A bit of a mouthful, eh? This moisturiser had been doing the rounds on Instagram for a while before I spotted it on offer in Boots and decided to take the plunge. Enriched with hyaluronic acid and aloe vera, the Hydra Genius Aloe Water Liquid Care does a fantastic job at soothing sensitive skin whilst providing a much-needed hydration boost. I don't think I've ever seen such impressive results from a drugstore moisturiser and can't wait to make the most of this cooling, refreshing formula after long days in the sun. After just a few weeks of use, my skin is in the best condition it's been in for a while, and it's all thanks to this moisturiser.

My hair is pretty frizzy no matter what the climate, but as soon as I step off the plane on holiday I turn into a bonafide Monica Geller impersonator. Taming my hair is my biggest battle on holiday, as it usually requires a fair bit of heat to make it anything remotely resembling manageable, but when it's hot outside I don't want to be stuck inside melting, hairdryer in hand. Step in, Lee Stafford Dehumidifier Spray. Dubbed an "umbrella for your hair", this spray helps to tame frizz and add a healthy dose of shine to your hair, no matter what the weather. The spray is super lightweight and not at all sticky, but I do find that if I use too much product my hair looks greasier quicker, possibly due to the extra shine. Not ideal at home, where I try to wash my hair a couple of times a week at most, but less of an issue on holiday where I wash my hair most days anyway.

Finally, after fighting frizz, the last thing left to tackle beauty wise has to be the dreaded chub rub. Many a day wandering around in the sun has been dampened by the ridiculously uncomfortable chafing my thighs like to subject me to. A nice little reminder that they're there, so to speak. Anyway, with the heatwave that hit the rest of the UK (which seemed to skip Scotland), there had been a lot of discussion about battling chub rub, in which I spotted Lush's Silky Underwear Dusting Powder mentioned numerous times. This absorbent powder helps skin glide without any uncomfortable friction, making chafing a thing of the past. Plus, it smells delicious, and is moisturising too! What more could you want? A life changing discovery, really.
