Top - Louche at Joy; Skirt - Louche at Joy; Bag - Kate Spade; Shoes - PrimarkWell, would you look at that, my first outfit post since September! It wasn't intentional, and I really meant to post outfits over the past few months, but they just got hidden underneath piles of coursework, weekends in retail, limited hours of daylight and a crisis of confidence. Can you tell how awkward I found it to shoot again? I'm determined to post more outfits this year, as this blog did start life as a fashion blog after all, so I need to get back in to the swing of things pronto!
Although last year was very much the year I fell in love with trousers, I've definitely been falling back towards skirts recently. I'd been on the hunt for a tan suede skirt for the longest time and this skirt from Joy is exactly what I had in mind. It's thick, so it helps hold the wobbly bits in place, and the gorgeous warm colour is both bold and neutral. It's so easy to wear and is such a staple piece to have in my wardrobe for all seasons.
I don't think I've shared the latest addition to my Kate Spade collection on my blog yet, although it's made plenty of appearances over on my Instagram. This beautiful bag is the Cameron Street Byrdie in lilac which was a very lovely Christmas present from my equally lovely boyfriend, Paddy. Lilac isn't a colour I wear a lot, but I was so drawn to this shade and it really stands out against my typically neutral wardrobe. I can't wait to wear it even more in spring, and have been loving it paired with monochrome gingham prints too. It's a really good size and is perfect for the days when I just need my purse, keys and camera!
Another obsession that I just can't shake, alongside my love of Kate Spade, is my fondness of embroidered details. I don't own a lot of blouses or shirts, as I don't feel like I suit collars all that much, but the embroidered collar on this beautiful blouse was hard to resist. The colours are so deep and add a real interest to what would otherwise be such a simple piece. I've got a whole post dedicated to my love of the embroidered trend coming up later this week, inspired by this blouse.
I'm really looking forward to getting more fashion content up on Colours & Carousels this year, as I do love sharing my outfits. My self-confidence took a real hit after being diagnosed with alopecia, and I'm still struggling a bit with the reality of losing my hair and the extra weight I managed to gain after my surgery in 2015. It's difficult not feeling comfortable in your own skin, but I think I've had the much-needed kick up the backside that I need to get myself back in to my gym routine. We'll see if it lasts, though! Either way, I do have some outfits lined up that I'm excited to shoot and share.
Otherwise, I'll just be here wishing for sunnier evenings and waiting for a break from seemingly endless coursework deadlines... Would you believe that I am actually wearing fake tan right now? I need a week of sunbathing, I think!
