Technically, most of these were purchased in October, but it's November now so I need to get with the times. I've been surprisingly reserved with my beauty purchases as of late because I've been trying to save, but there have been a few things I just couldn't resist. It's getting to that time of year where the Christmas ranges and exclusives start to show their faces and I for one cannot wait to see what my favourite brands have to offer this year. I've got my eye on a few pieces already, as per usual, so I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time before they pop into my basket...

Arguably the most exciting addition to my stash this month has to be the Naked Ultimate Basics Palette from Urban Decay. I'm a longstanding lover of Urban Decay, particularly the Naked palettes, and seeing as I'd hit pan on the entirety of my original Naked Basics palette this was just a natural progression. When this palette was announced I wasn't too sure about it, but the second I saw it in person I knew I had to buy it. I love matte shadows and Urban Decay have some of the best, with the perfect buttery texture and jam packed with pigment. I honestly think this is one of the best palettes in my collection right now, as even though it's all matte I find it to be super versatile and it has the perfect range of shades inside. I love them all, but my favourites have to be Tempted and Instinct (fourth and fifth on top row) alongside Extra Bitter (second on bottom row). It has to be up there with the Naked Smokey palette as one of my absolute favourite palettes and I would urge you to check it out in person, even if you're not convinced it's your thing at first I'm sure you'll be swayed.

To go alongside my shiny new palette I have a few shiny new brushes from Beau Belle. The Rose Gold Set consists of five brushes: the arched powder Brush, stippling brush, foundation brush, setting brush and an eyeshadow brush. I love the rose gold finish (obviously) and the groove in the handle makes them so easy to control. I'd prefer them to be a bit weightier and I did notice a little shedding from the duo-fibre brush when I first started using it, but it seems to have stopped now. The synthetic fibres wash well and they're the perfect density for use with both liquid and powder products - whatever your preference may be. I particularly like the foundation brush and find it works a lot better for me than the likes of my Real Techniques foundation brush as it gives a much more even spread of product without sucking the majority of my foundation into the bristles.

I picked up a few beauty bits for my trip to Croatia last month and although most of them were repurchases of old favourites, I took the opportunity to try a few new pieces too. I hadn't heard of Zhuzh before being introduced to the brand via Ideal World, but since testing out the Tan Accelerator I have to say I'm impressed. I was dubious as to how effective this could really be, as it's essentially a spray on moisturiser that you use before applying an SPF in order to boost the speed of the melanin in your skin reacting with UV light. Despite not having anywhere near as much sun as I would have liked whilst we were away, I still managed to build a beautiful glow from just a few days sunbathing. I've been home for nearly a month now *sobs* but the colour is still there, and the moisturising nature of the Zhuzh Tan Accelerator has helped keep my skin in tip-top condition. Think of it as a primer for your tan, but make sure you use an SPF alongside it.

My dry skin absolutely hates winter, so it's around this time of year that you find me cracking out the body butter left, right and centre. I love a good body butter, but it's not always the most convenient, especially after a shower when you're in a bit of a rush! I spotted the Palmers Rapid Moisture Spray Lotion on offer for £2 and figured it couldn't hurt to pick up a can and try it out for myself. The spray application of the lotion makes it so easy to use, meaning it's a pretty effortless step in my routine, but I do find the moisturiser isn't quite nourishing enough for me. It's alright for a top up, but I need a bit more than this lightweight formula to really make a difference with my skin.

I was so excited to see the new and improved Umberto Giannini Curl range back on the shelves, as they're one of the haircare brands I really trust to sort my hair out. I used to swear by their Curl Reviver, but sadly it hasn't made it back on to shelves, however that didn't stop me trying out some more from the range instead. I picked up the No More Frizz Curl Serum in hopes that it would tame my rampant frizz, particularly in the damp air on holiday, and it did a really great job. It's lightweight enough that my curls still have their spring, but it's nourishing enough that my hair looks smoother and shinier. It does feel quite greasy, and you have to use a light hand when applying, but otherwise it's a winner for me. I've also been trying out the 60 Seconds Curl Moisture Mask and so far it's working its magic pretty well, but I'm curious to see how well it'll keep it up with my newly coloured hair too.

No doubt next time my currently testing post appears it will be jam packed with festive fun and suitably sparkly Christmas pieces but for now, I'm just going to go stare at the Ultimate Basics Palette a little more...
