"But Charlotte, isn't this your desk?" I hear you cry. Well, yes, that is my desk, but it's my desk downstairs in the games room/office hybrid that I share with my brother. I spend most of my free time at that desk, tapping away at my keyboard writing up blog posts like I'm doing now, editing photos and videos or just generally wasting time on the internet, and, as a result, the desk in my bedroom had been lost under a pile of magazines and makeup for months now. My bedroom is by far my favourite place in the house, so I don't want it to be constantly associated with working on one project or another, but with assessments to study for and essays to write I thought it was about time that I sorted out a little workspace in my room that will make me happy to spend an hour or so sitting there.

I'm not going to lie, buying my MacBook Air was a big motivating factor in this. The whole point in buying a laptop was so that I wouldn't be chained to my desk all of the time, but I still wanted it to have its own little spot to call home in my room. If I'm working on my laptop, it's mostly from the couch or my bed, but having a clear desk to sit at if need be really helps - and I think it will continue to do so when the college work starts piling up.

Being as beauty obsessed as I am, there was always going to be a stash of my must have beauty products hanging about somewhere. I try to keep this to a minimum, as I don't want to clutter my space with things I'm not going to use, so I stick to a Nuxe Reve De Miel lip balm, The Body Shop almond hand cream and a hand sanitizer I picked up at Bath and Body Works in New York.

Also on my desk, you'll likely find at least two candles and a wax burner at any given moment. My current favourite candle is this Coconut and Cassis candle from Katie Loxton, which I was given for my birthday. It's a gorgeous, sweet scent that has me dreaming of sunnier shores every time I light it! I'm finding myself leaning more towards warm, deep fragrances as we move into Autumn so I'm going to be breaking out my cinnamon spice candles soon.

In order to prep myself for the start of school, I made a little Typo order to stock up my stationery levels for the year ahead. Typo have such an amazing range of notebooks for insanely good prices, and, as a result, I ended up ordering five notebooks for myself... oops. The pictured above is currently out of stock, but there are so many other gorgeous styles to keep you occupied in the meantime! Alongside my notebooks and pens, I decided to grab myself one of their handy water bottles that are half price at the moment, which I'm hoping will encourage me to keep hydrated throughout the day. I'm on the Typo website again now, someone please stop me. I love Typo too much.

You might recognise this adorable little trinket dish from my previous birthday wishlist, and I'm very glad to say it's now part of my life. Having a cute spot to keep all of my important bits and bobs together on my desk is very important for me, as I'm forever losing things like my rings or my work badge. This dish means that I know exactly where to head when I'm looking for something, as more often than not that's where it's sitting.

I don't have quite as many prints in my bedroom as I do at my other desk, instead opting for two of my favourites which are the Gold & Ruby Jammy Heart from Nikki McWilliams and the Create Floral Art print from Lazy Pencil Company. Alongside these, I have my calendar from Flying Tiger and my collection of pieces by Claire Barclay Draws. My Claire Barclay collection shares a frame with some of my favourite pictures of me & Paddy, but it's in desperate need of updating as these pictures are all at least two years old, if not more, with the exception of the polaroid hanging out at the front!

Overall, I think I've been pretty successful in creating a happy little spot in my room where I actually want to get some work done. It won't get as much use as my "office" desk does, but having the extra space will really help when I'm up to my eyeballs in deadlines and blog posts - especially when it's as inviting as this.

What will you always find on your desk?
