Okay, I know I said that this post would be my last post about our trip to Paris, but I found the photos for this post and realised I hadn't actually published the hotel review that I had written over and over again in my head. Honestly, if I had a pound for every time I think I've written a post that in reality, I've just written out in my head, I'd probably be able to afford those Kate Spade bags I dream of so fervently.

For our trip to Paris Paddy booked Hotel Declic in the Montmartre area of the city. The hotel claims to be the first of its kind in that it's a boutique hotel dedicated to photography. I certainly haven't seen any others, but who knows! I really liked the theme of the hotel, seeing as I have a strong interest in photography, so it was a great choice on Paddy's part.

It wasn't particularly central, being in the 18th arrondissement, however there is a metro station a few moment's walk from the hotel which easily connected us to all of the main tourist areas in Paris. The hotel is handy for the stunning Sacre Coeur and about 10-15 minutes in a taxi from the Moulin Rouge, so it's not completely out of the way. It's a nice area, and we really appreciated being close to the area around the Sacre Coeur as it was one of the spots we enjoyed most in Paris.

The hotel consists of 18 rooms and 9 suites, all revolving around the photography theme which is present throughout the entirety of the hotel. Due to a mix up with our booking, we actually ended up getting to stay in two rooms. It wasn't the best situation - and we're not really happy with how it was handled - but every cloud has a silver lining and it means I have more things to include in this review... yay?

Anyway, our first room was one of the Black & White doubles, with a small terrace and en-suite bathroom. The room was a good size, with a decent sized bathroom and a big wardrobe to keep all of our clothes in. The bed was very comfortable, which I always appreciate, and there was also a TV in the room. Luckily for us, one of the French channels was showing one of the Harry Potter films on the first night we arrived so we managed to find something we could actually understand whilst relaxing after a long day of travelling! Otherwise, all of the channels were in French, which wasn't a huge issue as we didn't really watch TV aside from the first evening.

After the aforementioned issue with our booking had been queried, we were upgraded to one of the suites for our final night. We had actually booked, and paid for, a suite for the duration of our stay however for some reason unbeknownst to us we had been put in the wrong room. The suite Paddy had originally booked wasn't available, so we were given the "Diapositive" suite. This was a lovely room, and absolutely enormous, with a huge round bed being the main focus. The walls were lined with television screens and the marble bathroom had a generous shower. It was a lovely room, but we didn't spend all that much time in it as we were out making the most of our last night in the city.

It just wouldn't be me without mentioning the food, and although breakfast wasn't included in our rate we decided to splash out and treat ourselves to some breakfast on our terrace. The breakfast menu had a decent selection, with both hot and cold options to choose from, as well as a selection of drinks. The food was excellent quality by hotel standards and was a great way to set us up for the day.

Overall, as nice as the hotel was I can't say we'd be heading back there in a hurry. We were seriously disappointed in how our issues were handled as well as the attitude of the management, and we are yet to reach any solution despite it being a month past. It's annoying, as everything else had gone so well! At the end of the day, we still loved our time in Paris, and one disappointing experience won't ruin the entire trip.
