Something about the end of August, start of September period always screams "fresh start!" for me, probably due to the fact that for sixteen years of my life it's always brought the start of a new school year. As of Monday my classes will have started and I'll officially be a student once again, which to me feels like the perfect time to try out some new things.
This year has been all about "finding my style", and I've lamented before about my love for trousers despite them just not loving me back. My short frame and big hips often mean that trousers aren't the most flattering choice for me, so aside from throwing on a pair of jeans I usually steer clear - much to my dismay. After browsing the #ThisIsNewLook style gallery for a spot of inspiration I found myself yearning for these tie waist tapered trousers and in a short burst of confidence, I decided to give them a go. Anyone can upload a photo to the gallery, so it's a fantastic place to head if you're needing some ideas for your wardrobe or if you have an outfit you want to share yourself.
And you know what? They make me feel sassy as hell. I think it might be love.
If you've seen me at any point over the last few weeks chances are I've been wearing these trousers. I've been pairing them with this pink scooped back body on numerous occasions, including my college induction and a dinner date with Hayley, but I've also been dressing them up with heels for a night out as well as some cute little floral tops in the perfect Autumn palette. I have two more outfit shoots in mind for these, so be prepared to see a lot of them. Next on my hitlist is the same pair, but in this gorgeous burgundy colourway which I think will be ideal for the coming change of season.
Another go-to in my collection has to be my beloved Adidas Gazelles, as I'll quite happily throw them on with any and every outfit. I love how trainers look with what would normally be a slightly more formal outfit, plus they're just so darn comfy. Unfortunately, I think my Gazelles are coming to the end of their life, which really isn't surprising considering that I've worn them pretty much every day since I got them - including numerous days at work, and trips to Berlin, New York, and Paris. They've taken quite a pounding and I'm definitely going to be replacing them with a new pair, I just need to decide which colour.
Pink and grey is by far my favourite colour combination at the moment, so to finish off this outfit I knew I had to add a spot more grey by way of my new handbag from Quiz, which is big enough to hold my daily essentials without being ridiculously oversized. I love structured bags, and this one is no different! Finally, I went for my usual rose gold four leaf clover necklace from Thomas Sabo, which again features in nearly every outfit I wear and matches my new rose gold watch from House of Florrie perfectly. I love having a watch with interchangeable straps like this, and it makes a pretty partner for my activity tracker which co-ordinates to a tee.
So, what else is new? Well as I mentioned college starts properly on Monday, which is both exciting and terrifying, so at the moment I'm mostly focusing on getting my life in order before my current routine is thrown up in the air. It's going to be a busy few weeks, with a hen do, a trip to St. Andrews, and a big wedding thrown in for good measure, but I'll get through it! There might be a few later nights than I'd like in order to keep on top of things until I settle into my new life as a student, but if it has to happen then it has to happen. I don't want to give up on any of the things I love, so I'll just need to make it work somehow. I have so many outfits that I want to shoot at the moment, but finding the time is proving to be difficult. It's been a while since I've had this many outfits planned in my head, though, so surely that's a good sign?!
