I feel like as soon as I get my skin settled in to a routine that works for it, the seasons change and my skin flips out. I suppose it doesn't help that Scotland can quite easily see all four of the seasons in the space of one day, but as our somewhat winter-like summer has rolled around it's time to try out some new products once again.

My skin tends to need different things in the summer, facial oils and super hydrating moisturisers are a favourite all year round, but particularly so the lighter formulations in the summer months. The Garnier Soft Essentials 24 Hour Hydrating Day Cream seemed like it would be ideal for me, boasting a super nourishing formula enriched with rosewater to refresh and calm redness. Unfortunately, this formula is way too dense for my skin and as a result it has broken out in protest. Despite it's dry tendencies my skin seems to hate any moisturisers that aren't super lightweight, which is starting to become tiresome, and it's a shame that this gel-cream formula wasn't right for me.

I picked up a selection of sheet masks from The Sunday Girl's blog sale as I've been on a bit of a sheet mask kick since trying out Sephora's offerings, and I was so excited to finally try some of the Tonymoly I'm Real Sheet Masks - partly down to the quirky packaging, because I'm cool like that. I bought a fair few of the variations on offer and so far my favourite has definitely been the lemon brightening mask which was incredibly nourishing and calming without weighing my skin down. These masks are a little messier than other sheet masks I've tried, mostly down to the fact that the cotton sheets are absolutely saturated with the product, but they're still a whole lot easier than your traditional face masks.

I've always associated PURE Spa with high quality, and their introductory skincare line has been no different. I've been trying out all of the products from their new skincare range and have found some real gems in the line up. Particular favourites include the Neroli & Jojoba Clean and Glow Cleansing Oil which removes makeup and cleanses the skin in a flash and the Regulate & Clear Facial Oil which has been working a treat at balancing my skin whilst also providing some much needed moisture. I've also been loving the Refresh & Revive Facial Mist which has been a life saver for these sticky, humid days!

On the return from our recent trip to Keswick we stopped off at Gretna Green for a quick dash around the outlets, where I decided to pop in to the beauty outlet and see if they had any good bargains. I picked up a few of my favourite Real Techniques sponges, then realised that they had the recently released Brush Cleansing Palette available for a few pounds less than it would cost on the high street. I usually use a Lush shampoo bar to clean my brushes but recently I've felt like it wasn't quite doing the job, so this multi-surfaced tool was a must buy. It makes quick work of giving my brushes a proper clean, removing even the most stubborn patches of residue with very little effort.

Not being one to resist a bargain, I also picked up a few products from W7 at the beauty outlet. I'm loving brightening products at the moment, as a few weeks of restless sleep has left my skin looked tired and dull. I'd heard wonders about using a nude liner in the waterline to open up the eyes, so I picked up the Dream Draw corrector pencil which W7 claim can be used in the waterline, as a lip liner or to conceal blemishes. I don't think it would be creamy enough to work as concealer, and I struggle to get enough pigmentation in my waterline to really make a difference without first warming the pencil on my hand. It was only a couple of pounds, so I didn't expect anything amazing, and I'd say my expectations were met.

I also decided to try out the Light Diffusing Concealer in order to brighten my under eye area, but again I've not been massively impressed. The applicator brush is a little bit naff, resulting in a streaky application of the slighty-too-peach toned concealer. Again, I didn't expect much for the price and it was definitely reflected in the overall quality. I had similar feelings towards the Anti Redness Primer which doesn't really do anything noticeable in fighting my redness. W7 have some real gems hidden in their product range, but unfortunately the three products I picked up weren't worth shouting about.

After recently being introduced to Nouveau Lashes they've become a quick favourite, garnering compliments aplenty when I wear them out. I'm planning a full post on my favourite lashes in the future, but in the mean time I thought I'd talk about their Lash Conditioning Serum which I've been using every day to help improve the condition of my natural lashes. I apply this every night before bed and have noticed a real difference in the condition of my lashes, which are considerably softer and shinier. It's an extra step that I never thought I needed, but it's one I'll be sure not to skip in the future.

I try to use products with an SPF in every single day, but sometimes the amount in my usual skincare or makeup is just far too low or even non-existent. The Dermalogica Solar Defence Booster from Pure Beauty has become a real staple in my daily routine. Boasting a whopping factor 50, it's a non-negotiable part of my skincare line up. It's light enough to wear alongside my usual moisturiser, which I usually mix it in with, and the invisible formula sinks in quickly without impacting on my makeup application. Gotta protect that baby face, eh?

The final new addition has left me with pretty mixed feelings, and I just can't make up my mind if it's my new favouite or if it's just not meant to be. My beloved Nars Sheer Glow had just run out when my Boots advantage card vouchers arrived in the post, so obviously I had to pay a visit to the make up counters and found myself browsing the range of foundation at No7. After chatting about what I like in a foundation with the lovely sales assistant she let me try out the Stay Perfect foundation and I soon fell in love. It's lightweight, but has a medium to full coverage and stays put all day long. It doesn't exaggerate my dry patches, but the slightly dewier finish does need setting with a powder. I've found that it doesn't need any top ups during the day which is always nice, however as per usual the lightest shade in the range is still slightly too warm for my eternally ghostly skin tone. I think if the tone suited me better then it would be a match made in heaven, as I love how it feels on my skin, but it's not quite there yet.
