Sunglasses - H&M (old); Bag & Purse - Kate Spade (US colourway)
In all honesty, I don't consider myself a fashion blogger. Despite this blog starting out as a "fashion" blog, I'd never really call myself all that fashionable. For years I spent hours putting together these outfits to photograph, that I'd wear to make myself seem cooler, but were never really me. The issue is, I'm not quite sure what my style actually is and lately I've been spending most mornings standing in front of my wardrobe wondering why on earth I bought half of it. Call it a crisis of confidence, if you will. It probably stems from me not being 100% comfortable with my appearance at the moment (hey roots) and feeling like I'm carrying a fair bit of extra weight, especially in my face, but I'm working on it.
Tangent aside, what I'm basically trying to say that my blog will always be more of a reflection of my own personal style as opposed to being a fashion blog, and I'm trying to show off the outfits I actually wear and love instead of what I think is "in". Apologies in advance for the boring yet inevitable parade of very similar outfits whilst I try and settle in to my own style... as well as a fair few wishlists and ASOS orders too.
I was heading out for dinner with some of my favourite blogging ladies - notably Lis, Ellis, Lynsey & Roisin - at the weekend so obviously grabbed the opportunity to have Lis snap a few outfit photos for me. Having been on my feet at work all day I was a bit tired, and a little bit sunburnt thanks to Scotland's surprising run of gorgeous weather, so I went down the colour co-ordination route once again matching an old pair of mint sunglasses with my new lace up shoes from Hotter. Working on my feet has made me painfully aware (literally) of how much damage cheap flat shoes do to my poor feet, so having a decent pair to wear out and about has made a world of difference. Plus the beautiful mint colour is a little bit more summer friendly than my go-to grey Adidas Gazelles! This gypsy style top from M&Co is perfect for disguising a burger induced food baby, plus I love that it can be worn off the shoulder.
I think this is the first time that my darling new Kate Spade bag has featured on my blog since it's debut on my YouTube channel, so say hello to my biggest purchase for a while! It's the Cedar Street Small Hayden and you can get this colourway from Bloomingdales or directly from Kate Spade in the US, but I can't find it on the UK site. I think my purse is a newer version of this style, and it looks like the colour is the exact same. Is it wrong to be totally smitten with a handbag? I'm obsessed with Kate Spade as a brand so I'm absolutely delighted to finally own a couple of pieces for myself. Still have a wishlist the length of my arm though...
I've mostly been working since I got back from New York, as well as sleeping a lot, but I have a few spare days coming up over the next couple of weeks as well as some very exciting plans. The lovely sunny weather is supposed to break this week, but it's been fun whilst it lasted! Eating my breakfast in the garden and just generally spending lots of time out in the fresh air has been a much welcome change to usual programming, so hopefully the rest of the summer follows a similar-ish pattern. Maybe I'll get a tan for once!
