Before I sat down to write this post I felt like I hadn't really bought much in the way of beauty recently, but as I wandered round the house gathering up all of my latest purchases I realised that in reality I had plenty to chat about. Whilst I didn't have any huge beauty hauls this month, I had a fair few little purchases here and there (as always) and so have accumulated quite a collection of newness, with some hits and some misses. I've been revisiting some old favourites, trying out some raved about brands and indulging a few impulsive shopping urges which all in all has resulted in quite a considerable post!
My first venture in to Antipodes products begins with the Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser which has helped to clear out a few pesky breakouts caused by a combination of a not-so-great primer and a pile of stress. It's slightly drying on my skin at times, but it's gentle anti-oxidant packed formula has made a real difference in brightening my typically dull complexion. Plus, it smells delicious which is a massive bonus for me! I'm really impressed with Antipodes so far and have got my eye on the Avocado and Rosehip Facial Oil to try out next.
Speaking of facial oils, I've returned to an old favourite in the form of the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil from The Body Shop. I've hailed it a skincare saviour in the past, so when the aforementioned breakout left my skin desperate for some TLC I decided to pick up a new bottle. It's just as perfect as I remembered, incredibly nourishing and soothing, and a little goes a long way with just one drop being the perfect amount for my whole face.
Since the harsh Winter weather has pretty much gone for now, and my usual lip balms have been far too heavy for the surprisingly warm weather at the moment. I've been loving this handy little tube of Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lip Balm which is perfect for keeping in my bag so I can use it on the go. At only £1.89 I was surprised by how well it works, and think it'll definitely be a staple in my collection from here on.
Having been treating myself to a semi-regular manicure for the past few months I hadn't thought to pick up any nail polish for a while now, but as I haven't had as much time as I'd like in order to go get my nails done I ended up picking up a couple of new colours from Barry M. I decided on "Pit Stop" from the Speedy fast dry range, which is a lilac-grey, and "Coconut" from the Gelly Hi Shine collection, a creamy off-white. I'm really impressed with "Pit Stop" but find that "Coconut" discolours quite easily, turning in to a slightly yellow shade which isn't the most flattering!
Whilst I've made my way round the majority of Lush's bath and skincare range, I'm yet to try all that much from the haircare. On a recent visit to stock up on bubble bars I noticed the Sunny Day detangling spray which claims to beat static and counteract the frizziness that I experience on a daily basis. I thought this would be perfect for my trip to New York (tomorrow!) to help keep my hair under control in the humid climate.
I've been on a bit of a liquid lipstick kick recently, so I decided to pick up a new brand and settled on a Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte in the shade "Serenity", a dusty rose with warm undertones. I've been raving about this lipstick to anyone who will listen, it's just incredible. Lightweight and long lasting, you can slick this on in the morning and last all day with little need to reapply. Unlike many matte lipsticks, this isn't drying in the slightest and leaves your lips in brilliant condition. I could quite happily wear this every day! Definitely going to be picking up some more shades.
