Back when Paddy & I first started seeing each other, which is nearly six years ago now... phew, our usual haunt was always TGI Fridays. On one of our very first "proper" dates I defied that so called rule not to eat too much on a first date and ordered one of the biggest burgers on the menu - which has since been discontinued much to our dismay - and devoured it in it's entirety. Since then we've kept up our habits of being regular visitors to TGI Fridays if we're ever stuck for dinner inspiration, and because of this we've managed to make our way through most of the menu. One thing stays the same on every visit, however, and that is the fact that we always order at least one portion of mozzarella dippers... but sometimes it's three.

You can imagine my delight, then, when TGI Fridays announced the launch of their Endless Appetizers in Glasgow, with mozzarella dippers being included in the selection to choose from. For £9.99 per person you can have unlimited refills of one appetizer, or £11.99 per person to switch up your choices on each round it's a great way to line your stomach whilst getting well and truly stuck in to the cocktail menu, as I soon discovered on my most recent trip!

For our first round we decided to start of nice and easy with a portion of Mozzarella Dippers and some of the mouthwatering Chicken & Bacon Taquito Bites. The Dippers were beautiful, as always, but the Taquito Bites were a real surprise for me! I'd spotted them on the menu on one of my many previous visits but hadn't got round to trying them out for myself yet, and I'm so annoyed that I've been missing out on them for so long. These tiny little mouthfuls are packed full of filling and flavour, making them a real highlight of the menu for me.

True to form, I started out the night with one of the big Frozen Raspberry Daiquiri's which was an excellent starting point. Fresh, tangy & super fruity - it wouldn't go amiss whilst sitting by a pool when visiting sunnier shores! Our lovely waitress Maria was super clued up when it came to recommending both food and cocktails, which her suggestion of the Raspberry Daiquiri proved!

Round two saw me opt for a surprisingly huge portion of Double Layered Nachos with Blackened Chicken, which left me absolutely stuffed. I'd had nachos in TGIs before so knew I was in for a treat, but I was totally blown away by the size of the portion which was piled high with gooey cheese and the only guacamole I actually like. So tasty, but seriously filling.

Paddy's choice was the Pulled Pork Loaded Potato Skins which turned out to be the only disappointing choice of the evening. We found the "Loaded" Potato Skins to be severely lacking in terms of filling, but they were tasty all the same.

My second cocktail choice was one of my firm favourites, a June Bug. It's a totally tropical delight that reminds me of childhood sweeties and far-away lands, it's my go to drink in TGIs and I've ended up getting a few of my friends hooked on them too. Always a winner in my eyes!

I had gone in to TGIs that evening expecting to be chowing my way through plate after plate of scrummy starters, but the huge serving of nachos threw me off my game meaning I struggled to finish a final portion of Mozzarella Dippers which we ordered as a final hope. I'd been hoping to try the Bruschetta and the Chicken Wings too, whilst Paddy had his eye on the Pulled Pork Sundae (yes!) so we'll just need to go back and try defeat the menu once again.

I rounded off the meal with a final cocktail - a Hurricane - whilst Paddy had another Staropramen to washs it all down. We left feeling defeated with very full bellies, determined to visit again to try more. The set up is perfect for a casual get together at the bar, where you can spend the night nattering and nibbling away.

Endless Appetizers is currently exclusive to the Glasgow restaurants on Buchanan Street, Silverburn, Braehead and at Glasgow Fort for now - find out more about it here.
