Much to my delight, Spring is nearly upon us, and with a new season comes the perfect time for a few home updates. I'm not usually one for Spring cleaning as such, but as the evenings slowly become brighter I'm eager to refresh my space ready for sunny days. The prospect of a slightly warmer season has left me yearning for light, airy neutral tones with hints of gold alongside a few colourful additions in the form of plants and tropical florals.
As I mentioned in my workspace tour I'm not one for minimalism, instead preferring to have a cosy space where I can be surrounded by the things that make me happy. Thanks to my Pinterest obsession I was recently introduced to the Danish concept of Hygge, which is essentially about encompassing warmth and happiness in your surrounding atmosphere.
Basically, Hygge is exactly what I look to do in my space, so Danish born BoConcept seemed like the perfect place to start. Luckily for us Brits, BoConcept have a couple of stores in the UK with their Glasgow Sauchiehall Street branch being the only one in Scotland. With the best mix of modern, quality interiors on offer I was spoilt for choice, but knew that the cable knit throw, Oreo cushion, marble iPad stand and the marble clock would work perfectly with my colour scheme. Obviously a cushion that shares a name with some of my favourite biscuits would catch my attention...
Keeping with the neutrals, I spotted this metallic cushion which would help tie in the metallic gold details whilst still fitting the muted colour palette. The wooden drawers would provide some very much needed storage, with the added prettiness of the white floral design. Plus, they're on sale at the moment and are an absolute steal!
The metallic accents obviously had to include some form of Kate Spade - I'm still obsessed - so I thought that this gold spot rose bowl would be the perfect place to showcase the barrels of roses I receive from my numerous suitors. Or the ones I buy myself when they're reduced in the supermarket... which is basically the same thing. I've had my eye on this "What Would Blair Waldorf Do?" foil print for so long now that as soon as the gold started creeping in I knew it had to be included. It ticks so many boxes for me - motivation, pop culture reference AND gold foil. It was meant to be.
Finally, Spring is a time for flowers, so I'll be bringing in hints of greenery in the form of this coconut & pineapple candle in the tropical palm print which will undoubtedly have me dreaming of summer holidays and cocktails on a faraway beach. I am absolutely enamoured with this stunning flower letter light which I think would make a gorgeous addition to any room, so right now I'm wondering if it's too far to buy nine of them and spell out my whole name... I imagine these will be making an appearance at just about any special occasion I plan any time soon. Add in some bargain Ikea potted plants and we're good to go!
