February is upon us already, and just like that Valentine's is lurking around the corner. Love it or hate it, it's a holiday that is celebrated by millions of people each year - so it is pretty hard to ignore! Personally, I quite like Valentine's. I'm all for random bursts of affection throughout the year but it is nice to have a designated day to celebrate love, even if it's just making time for a cosy night in front of the TV! This will be Paddy & I's sixth Valentine's together and true to form we're heading out to our favourite Mexican restaurant to indulge in lots of mango margaritas and taquitos!
We don't really go all out with gifts as my bank account is usually still recovering from the festive season, but there are a few fail safe gift ideas that I lean towards time and time again. From flowers to fragrance, here are a few ideas for Valentine's presents that I think you'd struggle to go wrong with...
Call me cliché, but I love having a beautiful bunch of flowers sitting on my dressing table. In my eyes a pretty flower arrangement, such as this Belle bouquet from Appleyard London, really brightens up a room and makes it feel a bit more "finished". There's something about the injection of life fresh flowers brings that just makes me smile! Appleyard London have an incredible selection of flowers on offer for all occasions and you can get 33% off with the code BLOG33. This code excludes the "Flowers by Post" range, but works on the other stunning luxury arrangements on offer. I've got my eye on these adorable tulips to brighten up my desk come spring time.
Jewellery is a pretty common gift for this time of year, which I am most certainly not complaining about. House of Fraser have a brilliant selection of rings on offer and I think their collection of Pandora rings is a must-visit if you're struggling for a bit of pretty bling, they're so sweet!
Bonnie Bling are one of my go-to brands for unique laser cut jewellery, and this Kissing Grey Squirrels necklace immediately caught my eye when browsing for Valentine's inspired gifts. Made in Scotland and loved by celebrities including Lana Del Rey, Elton John and Usain Bolt (yes!!! Look here!) the Valentine's collection is a one stop shop for cute cards and gifts.
Last month we bought our first Fujifilm Instax and I'm currently obsessed with the idea of documenting the special moments throughout the year so I just had to include the Fujifilm Instax Mini 90. I'm sure I've rambled on about how romantic I find film photography on numerous occasions before, so if you feel a similar way to me then I think an Instax would make a fantastic gift.
I love a good funny card and La La Land have plenty to choose from. Particular favourites include this C3-PO card pictured above and Don't Go Bacon My Heart. Funny wee cards like this are a great little extra gift and a guaranteed laugh!
Something that always goes down well for us is a gift that we can both use, like the My Street Food Kitchen cook book. Eating is most definitely one of our favourite past times and this year we've decided to try and cook together more. Having had a quick flick through My Street Food it looks like it covers pretty much every kind of food we like, so would be well worth buying!
Fragrance is another easy choice, and with so many on the market at the moment it can be hard to know what to go for. It was the bold, wicker style bottle that houses the GANT fragrance that first caught my eye, but with the combination of deep woody notes with the freshness of lemon and lavender Gant sounds like a beautifully curated scent. Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf has been a popular fragrance choice for a while now, and what I love most about it is the fact that Boots are currently offering bottles engraved "With Love" which is an adorable added touch, perfect for Valentine's.
Finally, why not co-ordinate your accessories game with a pair of matching watches from Daniel Wellington? I think Daniel Wellington have an amazing range of classic watches, which ooze quality and class. Right now, I love the Classic Glasgow and the Classy Glasgow - I promise it's not just because of the name - and think they make the perfect pair.
What are your go to gifts for Valentines day - or are you not a fan?
