The Full Monty Face & Body Brush - Magnitone London

The benefit of a facial brush was always something that I struggled to understand, seeing them more as an oversized electric toothbrush than anything that would be remotely beneficial to my skin, but after months of reading rave review after rave review I finally bit the bullet and jumped on the bandwagon. The brush in particular that can be responsible for my conversion is The Full Monty by Magnitone London, a pretty little turquoise number that claims to clean; tone and boost circulation with it's exfoliating motion.

Unlike the Barefaced Facial Brush The Full Monty covers all the bases with five varying modes for face, body and feet. The brush comes with three interchangeable brush heads relating to each use, including a buffer for those dreaded dry heels. It's wireless, so totally portable, and a full charge typically lasts me roughly two weeks using it 1-2 times a day. The brush has a rubberised plastic finish which makes it entirely waterproof - so can be used in the shower - and it's so nice to hold. It may sound like such a strange thing to say but it's got a good weight to it and it just feels like it's a quality little gadget!

For the past three weeks I've been using the Magnitone London Full Monty twice a day - once on the gentlest setting in the morning to clear out all the grime, and once on the strongest facial setting as the second part of my two step cleanse in the evening. The facial cycles last for a minute each, beeping every 20 seconds to notify you that it's time to move on to a new area. A minute seems like such a small amount of time, but when used properly it sure does make a difference.

I find the Magnitone London Full Monty works best for me with a creamy cleanser such as the Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash from The Body Shop which was a bit of a switch for me. My old routine typically consisted of a balm or oil based cleanser to remove my makeup then an exfoliating cleanser to properly clean out my pores, but Magnitone recommend that you don't use an exfoliating product with the brush to avoid irritation. After cleansing, I go on to tone and moisturise as per usual and from the very first use it was obvious how much better my moisturiser was sinking in to the skin.

One of my biggest concerns about the Magnitone London Full Monty was it causing a "purging" period, where the impurities drawn out from the skin cause it to break out and seem worse before it gets better. I don't know if I was just lucky, but despite this being my first time using a cleansing brush I've not had any major issues. There's been a few tiny spots here and there, but I'm putting them down to hormones and my god damn awful diet at the moment. It was quite a pleasant surprise really!

Three weeks on, I still feel like I'm in the "getting to know you" stage of my relationship with The Full Monty, but so far I'm really impressed. Whilst it's a bit of a splurge in terms of price, there is no denying the difference it's been making to my skin. Obviously the whole "not leaving the house for a month" thing means I've not really been wearing as much make up, but on the rare occasion I've been painting my face there's been a considerable difference in the way my base applies.

Having had kind-of-alright skin for the past while - as in no major breakouts or oiliness - I can't say how much of a difference it would make in those areas, but for dry, dehydrated and somewhat lacklustre skin it's been a welcome addition to my line up. I did think that adding yet another step to my routine was unnecessary, but the ease of use and time required for the Full Monty honestly makes me feel like I can have my face done in half the time. Not only that, but it's brighter, tighter and soooooooo smooth. If you see me randomly stroking my face, this is why.

I feel like I need to make it clear that Magnitone London very kindly gifted me this brush to try out, and at first I was hesitant. Saying something so expensive is worth the money is a bold statement when I wasn't forking out my own cash, especially as I'd be reluctant to splash out so much of the little cash I have without thorough testing, but I can honestly say that after properly trying it out for myself I wholeheartedly think it is. Your skin tells a pretty in depth story as time goes on, so I think it's worth investing in when you can. I feel like I'm rambling, but also think it's worth highlighting. CLARITY, YO.

So thank you, Magnitone London, for showing me the light.
