My MAC Lipstick Collection
Whilst I'm happy enough with a bargain drugstore lipstick, I think that treating myself to something a little bit more luxurious from MAC is one of my very guilty pleasures. I cringe a little to think that these six lipsticks are worth nearly £100, which is an insane amount to spend on lipsticks, but then I'm comforted by the fact that they've either been bought with a voucher, in duty free or been gifts. Phew!
MAC lipsticks are by no means cheap, but I find the quality, consistency and shade range hard to beat. A lot of the shades I own are very similar, as I often shy away from splashing out on shades that I'm not sure I'll get enough wear out of, but I'm slowly making the move towards bolder choices and have what feels like a never-ending wishlist of shades to try...
Lovelorn is a lustre finish lipstick, meaning it's slightly glossier and a bit more sheer than some of my preferred finishes, but there's something about this cool toned pink that has me reaching for it on a regular basis. It adds a swipe of pretty in pink colour without being too in your face, and is one of the brighter shades in my collection.
Patisserie was a somewhat out of character choice, being a sheer neutral pink that sways more on the nude side. Much like Lovelorn, it's a lustre finish, making it ideal for daily wear as it needs minimal maintenance throughout the day. I don't wear this one very often as I feel like I'm a bit too pale for it at the moment, but it looks gorgeous over a dusky pink lip liner.
The first MAC lipstick I ever bought was Viva Glam III, a matte brown-ish plum that's perfect for autumn. I barely touched this when I first bought it, but now that I'm feeling slightly braver with my make up I think it'll be gracing my lips quite a lot throughout the autumn season.
After receiving Brave as a birthday present back in July it's become a fast favourite. It's a satin finish dusky pink, the perfect "my lips but better" shade. I wear this most days as it's just such a wearable colour due to it's cooler tones and long lasting formula. It has a similar pigmentation to matte finishes, but is considerably less drying and so a lot more comfortable on the lips.
Before Brave, Mehr was definitely my most-worn MAC lipstick. Another matte, this gives a perfectly pigmented swipe of dusty pink and is again cool toned. It's slightly darker than Brave, so I wear this when I'm looking for something a tiny bit bolder but still on the subtler side.
Captive was a duty free treat to myself, as I fell in love with the pink-ish, plum-ish tone at first sight. It's the ideal choice for those who, like me, are a little bit apprehensive about full on berry shades but want something a little bit more exciting than the dusky pinks that I tend to favour. This is another satin finish, like Brave, so it's perfect for wearing all day but does sometimes require the odd touch up on the go. Probably because I rarely stop eating...
