Oreo Cookie Truffles
Let's ignore the fact that I'm going on holiday in less than eight weeks and that my dentist told me yesterday that I need my first ever filling next week so should really be eating less sugar, and instead focus on the fact in hand that Oreos taste nice.
I've been meaning to make Oreo Truffles for what feels like years but never got round to it, so when I was wandering down the biscuit aisle of my local supermarket and spotted a packet on offer I figured I should finally give them a go. Most of the recipes I had found online use cream cheese, however this means that they really need to be stored in the fridge and food is not safe in the fridge in my house. I have a teenage brother. So, instead I decided to try condensed milk instead and they worked out pretty damn well if I do say so myself!
Oreos (I used a packet and a half and got about 16-20 truffles of varying size)
3 tablespoons condensed milk - give or take
200g milk chocolate
100g white chocolate
The method is really simple. Crush your Oreos using a plastic food bag and a rolling pin (or a food processor if you have one) until you have reasonably fine crumbs. Stir in your condensed milk a little at a time until the mixture has a consistency similar to that of cookie dough. Once formed, it's time to get a little bit messy. Roll small portions of the mixture in to a ball using your hands then place on a lined baking tray. Once you've filled your baking tray, pop them in to the fridge and leave them to set for about an hour or so, or if you're in a rush you can put them in the freezer for ten minutes! Melt your milk chocolate and dip the truffles in to fully coat them in the chocolate (I use two forks to try and make this as easy as possible) then return them to the baking tray. When you've covered all of your truffles put them back in the fridge for a little while so the chocolate sets before drizzling some of the melted white chocolate over the top. That last stage is purely decorative so can be skipped if you want!
Do you think you'll make these? I'd love to see how they turn out if you do!
P.S. There's a new video up on my channel today!
