It might not always come across on my blog, but I absolutely adore the theatre. I have a soft spot for musicals (especially cheesy jukebox musicals) and my iPod is home to multiple playlists of songs from the stage. You may remember that I went to see Wicked in Edinburgh back at Christmas time and adored it so you can imagine my excitement when the chance arose to watch it again when the current tour stopped off in Aberdeen.
A re-imagining of the world first seen in the classic story of The Wizard Of Oz, Wicked is a tale of unlikely friendship and the life of the witches. The staging is incredible, with awe inspiring outfits and unbelievably powerful vocals from the whole ensemble. I find it such an emotional story and it does make me a bit teary-eyed at parts... that stays between us, right? Having begun it's tour of the UK and Ireland back in 2013 it's now visiting The Granite City and will be at His Majesty's Theatre on Rosemount Viaduct until the 30th of May and is a must see in my opinion. Tickets start at just £16 which is a massive bargain for the quality of production you're getting to see. You can buy them here.
Since seeing the show on Wednesday evening I've had the soundtrack stuck on a loop in my head - you'll recognise killer tunes such as Defying Gravity and Popular - and I'm already desperate to see it again... maybe on Broadway next? A girl can dream, anyway. I can't explain how magical it is, if you ever get the chance to see it you just have to grab it with both hands. You can watch the trailer here and find more details about the tour here.
What a way to say goodbye to Aberdeen, eh? I've finally ticked something else off of my "to do before I leave" list! Are you a theatre fan? I think there's something so beautiful about seeing something on stage, it transports you to another world.
I was very kindly given complimentary tickets for the performance.
This does not affect my views in any way, it really is incredible.

Just go see Wicked okay, you won't regret it.
