I was pretty excited when I heard that Bill's Restaurant was opening a branch in Glasgow, having previously heard rave reviews of the various joints down in the south. In the past month I've actually visited twice; once with some lovely blogging ladies at the start of the month and again at the weekend with Paddy and a couple of our friends. I've made it my mission to work my way through the various treats that caught my eye on the menu and so far I'm doing pretty well!

The restaurant sits on West Nile Street, mere metres away from what could be considered the heart of "burger central" and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Being Glasgow, it was pouring with rain on both of my visits so I've only experienced the indoor atmosphere for now! I can imagine it would be lovely to sit outside if that rare week of sunshine ever happens again.

Inside, the restaurant has a somewhat eclectic decor style with a mix of exposed industrial-esque ceilings and extravagant chandeliers. It's lovely and cosy, perfect for a catch up over a cocktail, but not the best lighting for blog photos... damn! That aside, I really love the interior and especially enjoyed fawning over the Bill's branded goodies that were available to purchase. I ended up at the exact same table on both of my visits which was literally right next to a massive stand of treats! I was tempted to pick up a bottle of the delicious pink lemonade but I've resisted so far.

The soft drink menu is pretty impressive with various juices and ice cream floats aplenty. Having recently finished my exams (and after a long day at work) I headed straight to the cocktail menu for one of their fantastic Amaretto Sours, made with pink lemonade. It went down an absolute treat and was possibly one of the best I've had in a while, but the same couldn't be said for the Strawberry Daiquiri which was a tad too synthetic for our liking.

Between a table of four people, we ended up with three burgers... Typical! I decided to save myself for the Great Glasgow Burgerthon and opted for the barbecue ribs which were really good. The chips were amazing too - worth ordering as a side if your dish doesn't already come with a portion! I wasn't totally blown away by the presentation but it is pretty difficult to make ribs look pretty. As expected the burgers were of a great standard, clearly made with high quality meat and cooked to perfection. The bun was a tad too toasted for my liking but no one else was fussed. On my previous visit I had the duck which again was also great, would definitely recommend that and will be heading back for more in the future - once I've sampled the rest of the menu that is.

When I first visited Bill's I knew I had to have the chocolate brownie, and it was a brilliant choice. Moist and fudgey without being too dense it's the ideal climax to a great meal. Last time I was a bit jealous when Roisin ordered the warm cinnamon doughnuts so I was swaying slightly towards ordering them this time but my mouth was watering at the thought of the plate of chocolate-y goodness. At first I was a little dismayed at the portion size but it is spot on, any more and I would be rolling home! I'm drooling right now just thinking about it, oh my.

Overall I'd say that Bill's is pretty much worth the hype. The service was a little bit on the slow side but it was a Saturday night and our waiter was ridiculously kind so we didn't feel ignored in the slightest. There's such a great variety available from their menu and it's something a little bit different to the bog standard burger and chips which I'm so used to right now. I'm already planning a return for breakfast, but they also have a pretty snazzy looking afternoon tea on offer too! I'm really glad that it has finally arrived up "over the wall" and here's hoping that lots of other chains quickly follow suit.
