Book Haul

Being a bit of a telly addict I popped in to HMV last week hoping to get some bargain box sets in the sales. Sadly, I was left very disappointed. However to my surprise I found some super cheap books hidden away at the back and decided to pick up a few to kickstart my Goodreads challenge for the year.

The books I chose were: American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, Girlfriend in a Coma by Douglas Coupland, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson, Bed by David Whitehouse and No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda JulyIn total these five books cost me a tiny £6, so I'm pretty chuffed. I'll definitely be heading back to the book section of HMV more often! I've made a start on Girlfriend in a Coma and I'm really enjoying it so far, I'll more than likely do a review post when I've finished them all.

Have you read any great books recently? I'm always hunting for recommendations!

  1. I've tried to avoid HMV l;ately as my DVD player has stopped working so I need to replace that before I can really buy any more boxsets. I'd never really thought of them for books before - good finds.

  2. Ah, my favourite kind of 'haul'! Curious to hear what you think of the Miranda July book - I keep reading these teeny amazing quotes from it everywhere.

  9. I am a massive Douglas Coupland fan & Girlfriend in a Coma is pretty good! I've just finished reading the Divergent series by Veronica Roth which was good, I wanted to read the series before the film came out later this year!

I've not read any of the other books you bought but I would love to hear what you think of them! Always great to hear peoples recommendations!

  10. Although I love reading, I hate spending too much on a book that I know I'll only read once! I thought the deals for books in Fopp were cheap, but these seem even cheaper! I'll have to have a look in HMV next time I go in :)

  11. My favourite place to find some great deals on books is Fopp! :) I actually just bought Fear & Loathing a few weeks ago and I've still to read it.

  12. I found American Psycho to be one of the most unnerving and unsettling things I have ever read - I felt quite nervous about turning the page because I never knew what Bateman was going to get up to! *shudder* It's not a good book, it's a BRILLIANT book - but believe me by the end you're still going to be left unsure as to whether you enjoyed it or whether you were just gripped by it ;) xxx
