OOTD - Kiss me beneath the milky twilight

Dress - Forever 21
Top & super cosy tights - Primark
As much as I love hot chocolate, soup, cosy clothes and central heating I despise the weather that winter brings. I'm pretty awful at dressing for the cold which is a bit odd considering how much I hate being cold. Basically, I tend to throw on a massive cosy jumper and some leggings then hope for the best...

I've been trying to mix up my wardrobe a bit more as I've been in a bit of a style rut so I decided to make this slightly summery dress from Forever 21 a little bit more suitable for the current chilly climate up in Aberdeen.

After a not so long day at university, and when I've finished any work I have to do at home, I tend to just curl up in bed to watch TV or a movie so my blog has been a little unloved lately. I can't promise any miracles here, but I am trying to get back in to it. I really miss blogging every day, but I feel like I have nothing to write about!

At the moment I'm counting down the days until Christmas but sadly I have a few big deadlines to get out of the way first. Even after Christmas I still have a massive piece of coursework to hand in but I'm just looking forward to having a few days off to relax at home in my pjs.

Lots of love x

Desert Island Essentials #20

Imagine you are stranded on a desert island in the middle of the ocean without a person in sight, however not to worry, as this island is pretty luxurious compared to some others! I’m asking a different blogger every week what their desert island essentials are, and this week it’s Leah from Painted Daisies.

On your lovely little desert island you find an iPod, however it can only hold 5 songs - which five songs would you choose?

Johnny Cash – Folsom Prison Blues
Joni Mitchell – Big Yellow Taxi
Avicii – You Make Me
Blink 182 – Wishing Well
Katy Perry - Roar

I think that’s a nice combination of my music.

Surprisingly, there is also a TV on the island! But, you can only pick one movie or TV show to watch for your time here, what would you choose?

Oooh that is a hard one! I think I will go for Supernatural as it’s been a favourite of mine since school. There are tons of episodes too. Plus, I don’t think I could ever get bored of Jensen Ackles!

Before you were stranded you were carrying a book, what one book would you want to have on the island with you?

I must admit, I’m not a big reader (I’m not a bad person I swear). Anyway, I think I will go for Robinson Crusoe. I’ve never read it but I think it seems like an appropriate book don’t you?

Obviously, you’re not going to be left to starve. If you could only have 1 meal and 1 drink a day what would it be?

I’d have to go with a Cheese Toastie & Southern Fried chips…with a lake of Tomato Sauce. I then think I’d wash that down with some Diet Coke.

When stranded on your island what would your must have beauty essential be?

I would have to go with some hair straighteners…If there’s electricity, that means straighteners are okay doesn’t it? If not, I think a perfume would be a good call. Don’t want to be all stinky!

Everywhere has WiFi these days, right? Well your island does! However you are limited to one blog and one YouTube channel - who would you choose?

This is probably the easiest question for me. I would therefore go for either of Lily Melrose’s blogs or her Youtube. She was the first blogger & Youtuber I started to religiously follow; I’ve followed her since her early Lookbook days. Plus she has a cute little kitten who looks just like mine.

Fruitbroo

Fruitbroo* is available online here or in Sainsbury's for £1.70
Me again! Eventually... I wish I had a decent excuse for being such an awful blogger lately but to be perfectly honest I just couldn't be bothered. I've been doing a lot of work for the magazine (the first issue is out soon woooo!) and also had my first 'proper' deadlines for university... fun times. My camera is having some issues after a firmware update which I don't think installed properly so whilst I try my very best to sort that out I've done some fancy editing using my iPod... so autumnal. Much filter.

Sorry, I've been on Tumblr too much.

Anyway, I love a hot drink basically all year round but when winter starts to appear it's kind of all I drink. I consume hot chocolate like it's water. My mum was raving about these fruity drink things but I didn't particularly fancy the flavours she had however when Fruitbroo got in touch and asked if I wanted to try some I jumped at the chance (I also knew it would get me in my mum's good books, top daughter and all).

Fruitbroo is kind of like a sticky syrupy mixture that you stir in to hot water to make a drink reminiscent of tea but without the caffeine. For someone who tends to get migraines after a bit too much caffeine this is perfect, I can have all the delicious fruity goodness all day every day with zero headache! I find it quite sweet and very flavourful; I tend to have mine with a bit of lemon juice but I do that with pretty much any kind of fruit tea. I found the apple, ginger & spice flavour to be considerably more spicy (durhhh) towards the end which I'm not a big fan of so I tend to leave the very end bit but I'm fussy.

These little tubes of goodness have been getting me through all my work and I don't even feel guilty because they're only a tiny 15 calories per cup. Right now I've got my eye on the banana & coconut flavour which sounds absolutely delicious, definitely going to be keeping an eye out for that one.

(My sweary but true mug is from Urban Outfitters)

Desert Island Essentials #19

Imagine you are stranded on a desert island in the middle of the ocean without a person in sight, however not to worry, as this island is pretty luxurious compared to some others! I’m asking a different blogger every week what their desert island essentials are, and this week it’s the lovely Olivia from xoliviamae.

On your lovely little desert island you find an iPod, however it can only hold 5 songs - which five songs would you choose?

This is such a hard decision! I'll probably regret this list as soon as I get there if I'm honest...
I'll Stand by You - Girls Aloud
Live in the Country - Girls Aloud (can you tell I'm a Girls Aloud fan)
Dance with Me Tonight - Olly Murs
Things We Lost in the Fire - Bastille
Move - Little Mix because right now it is stuck in my head and it probably will never leave - haha!

Surprisingly, there is also a TV on the island! But, you can only pick one movie or TV show to watch for your time here, what would you choose?

Coronation Street because there'll be a never ending amount of episodes to watch - you see, tactical thinking here!

Before you were stranded you were carrying a book, what one book would you want to have on the island with you?

Pop Tart by Kira Coplin or one of the Goddess Guide books. Probably Pop Tart.

Obviously, you’re not going to be left to starve. If you could only have 1 meal and 1 drink a day what would it be?

A roast dinner with all the trimmings, yum! And probably Diet Coke to drink because everybody needs caffeine.

When stranded on your island what would your must have beauty essential be?

Cleansing wipes so I can take all the dirt off my face while being nice to my skin, because you never know what's going to be lurking under the sea so I don't want to wash my face in there...

Everywhere has WiFi these days, right? Well your island does! However you are limited to one blog and one YouTube channel - who would you choose?

For the blog I'd have to support my fellow Olivia and choose www.whatoliviadid.com, not only does she have beautiful posts, she also updates regularly which would be a godsend, because I guess I'll get rather bored and lonely on this island! The Youtube channel would have to be Zoella just because I don't watch any other Youtubers that often... that's really bad isn't it!?

Desert Island Essentials #18

Imagine you are stranded on a desert island in the middle of the ocean without a person in sight, however not to worry, as this island is pretty luxurious compared to some others! I’m asking a different blogger every week what their desert island essentials are, and this week it’s my blogging BFF Hayley from Water Painted Dreams.

On your lovely little desert island you find an iPod, however it can only hold 5 songs - which five songs would you choose?

Sunbeams and Custard Creams - Jill Jackson, Getaway  Driver - Jill Jackson, Hurricane - 30 Seconds To Mars, Bulletproof Heart - My Chemical Romance, Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus.

Surprisingly, there is also a TV on the island! But, you can only pick one movie or TV show to watch for your time here, what would you choose?

I'd probably go with NCIS as it's been my favourite tv show for a couple of years and the first tv show that I 'got into'. There's 11 seasons and counting so I'd have lots to watch. I'm not really a big fan of watching movies as I don't really have the attention span for it.

Before you were stranded you were carrying a book, what one book would you want to have on the island with you?

I'd probably bring my 2 part box set of War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy because I think being stuck with it on a desert island is probably the only way  I'm ever going to get round to reading those books.

Obviously, you’re not going to be left to starve. If you could only have 1 meal and 1 drink a day what would it be?

Chinese food and irn bru. Mmmmmmmm.

When stranded on your island what would your must have beauty essential be?

I think pretty much everyone has been saying sun cream so lets take that as a given. Next I'd probably bring along a perfume or a deodorant so that I don't get all smelly after sweating in the sun all day. Ew.

Everywhere has WiFi these days, right? Well your island does! However you are limited to one blog and one YouTube channel - who would you choose?

If I were to choose one blog to read it would probably be The Londoner. Probably the first blog I ever read and Rosie updates it frequently so I wouldn't get bored. And as a YouTube channel: Just Kiss My Frog. Another one that I'd been watching for ages! I love Leena's attitude. Her videos are just so easy to watch.

Desert Island Essentials #17

Imagine you are stranded on a desert island in the middle of the ocean without a person in sight, however not to worry, as this island is pretty luxurious compared to some others! I’m asking a different blogger every week what their desert island essentials are, and this week it’s Courtney from Wonders of Dreams.

On your lovely little desert island you find an iPod, however it can only hold 5 songs - which five songs would you choose?

1.Somebody to love - Queen
2. Three little birds - Bob Marley
3. Hakuna Mutata - Lion King
4. That girl - Mcfly

5. The Letter - Xavier Rudd

Surprisingly, there is also a TV on the island! But, you can only pick one movie or TV show to watch for your time here, what would you choose?

Definitely Friends! It never gets old and one movie would get super boring!

Before you were stranded you were carrying a book, what one book would you want to have on the island with you?

One book! Can't I sneak a series or several?! I'd have to say either one of Karen Rose or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, probably Harry Potter because I'd creep myself reading Karen Rose on a giant island!

Obviously, you’re not going to be left to starve. If you could only have 1 meal and 1 drink a day what would it be?

Steak, chips and beans, all day long, with a nice refreshing glass of Dr Pepper!

When stranded on your island what would your must have beauty essential be?

Definitely a  Concealer - cant live with out it here let alone on an island. I probably should have said something practical like shampoo or sun cream, oh well I'll make my own... Somehow!

Everywhere has WiFi these days, right? Well your island does! However you are limited to one blog and one YouTube channel - who would you choose?

Oh god I read so many blogs urmm, Sweet Monday, not only do I love her blog but she has recipes and DIY's and would definitely help me survive on an island!? My YouTube channel would definitely be Helen Melon Lady!

Monthly Round Up

Finally got Allegiant! - my new favourite bar - rainbow in Aberdeen - university 'resources'
Onesie time - new glasses, Primark's best - cocktails after university - early mornings
I had a not-so-welcome visitor - pretty buildings in Aberdeen - cookie dough shots - ghostly me & my boyfriend
I've had so many half formed post ideas for this month that I thought I would just combine them all in to one handy round up! I've been a bit lacking in posts this month, pretty much down to sheer laziness and a bit of blogger's block but I'll get there eventually. Unusually I actually spent a couple of weekends in Aberdeen this month as opposed to going home at every opportunity and they were pretty good. I also popped home for my best friend's 18th and a little random mid week trip to surprise my mum! This month I've been:

Reading - Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (fab), Coming Up Roses by Cath Kidston (interesting) and currently reading Allegiant by Veronica Roth (unconvinced).

Watching - Lots and lots of Supernatural, Movie 43 (awful), Mr Popper's Penguins (amazing) and Fortysomething. Yay for Hugh Laurie.

Doing - coursework. :(

How crazy is it that it's November already? It's Christmas next month!
